Wasn't sure where else to post this.

There's currently "soft light" and "hard light" available by default but I'm looking for the effect "linear light" effect, that's what Photoshop calls it at least, it's a shader that Stardew Valley uses too.

newt thanks for the reply, but that's not giving the effect that I'm looking for.
I found this post, but I don't know if it's helpful since I don't know anything about code:

The effect is sometimes described as: "Linear Light uses a combination of the Linear Dodge Blending on lighter pixels and a Linear Burn on darker pixels."

Here is an example PSD with a layer using linear light

I'm not sure how much effort it is to make shaders. Should I post this in the C3 feature requests site? But it's also the kind of thing that I assume a community member could make, in that case should I offer money?

Here's a formula for linear light from this page: deepskycolors.com/archive/2010/04/21/formulas-for-Photoshop-blending-modes.html

(Blend > 0.5) * (Target + 2*(Blend-0.5)) +

(Blend <= 0.5) * (Target + 2*Blend - 1)

I am not exactly sure how to use it though, I imagine you are blending a source image with the background. I think you would have to apply the above to each color component separately?

I am over on the Construct Community Discord and have ported/developed effects before if you want to discuss creating an effect or see if that would even work for your purposes.

Looks like Stardew, but without the UI to me! Is that just an sprite with the effect over it or do you have a very literal SDV clone? Always fancied making a simplified farming game inspired by SDV.

Hah well I'm not sure I really have time at the moment. But I might make some notes on how the mechanics could work. Perhaps then I can just pass them onto Laura_D... I mean she's only working on one game/project at the moment ;)

Also it doesn't look like Kenney has any suitable assets so I'd have to come up with art myself!

Only one, stupidly large project Nepeo!

To be honest though, I had thought about adding some kind of farming aspect to it. To go with the crafting idea I had. Might draft some ideas out on paper.

And I might just have to try out that lighting effect at some point as I was also debating tackling a day/night system of some sort.

The todo list never gets any shorter 😅

Heh well maybe add farming to the "nice to have" list and come back to it later. SDV is a little bigger than "just farming" but I believe it took 1 guy 7 years to make...
