  • I was wondering what everyone's thoughts on Construct 3 are. I know it is a drag and drop type system.

I have zero programming experience and I am looking into learning to make games. Mainly focusing on 2d games and my PC can't run Unity all that well. I have toyed around with construct 3 but I am terrified of wasting my time on an engine that seems so sketchy in terms of performance and publishing.

  • Try Construct 3

I would stay away from the C3 runtime for now. It's still in development and has given me many problems when I tried to switch my multiplayer game from C2 to C3. C2 runtime, however, is solid. I think almost any 2D game you want to make can be made in C2. Something like Inside would probably be impossible, but I think if you're a beginner, it will be a long time before your skill level exceeds the capacity of Construct

  • I love Construct 3! I too have zero programming experience and started by toying around with Unreal's blueprints and bought various visual scripting tools for Unity, both have fairly steep learning curves and I struggled with both engines for months. I also played around with Stencyl for a bit and it too was less intuitive in my opinion.

I would strongly recommend Construct 3 for at least getting started. I learned the basics in about a week and then began participating in game jams to learn more and get faster, it's a fantastic engine.

  • I think most of us on the Construct forums will recommend the product, as we're using it. You should ask the same sort of question on the GameSalad and GameMaker forums, to see if you get enthusiastic responses there too. It might tell you more about the morale of the forums than anything else.

But I'd suggest trying Construct to see if it works for the way you think. Your time is too valuable to waste working with a product you don't like, right?

EDIT: A little entertainment here, as it looks like the OP is just out trolling. His only other post states:"I have some experience with other languages and frameworks..." while here he has "...zero experience programming", while suggesting vague knowledge of Construct performance and publishing issues.
