Been a while since I posted anything. This was an idea about trying to create line of sight/ shadows in a quick way following on from a question over in the forums.
Anyway I thought it looked kinda good ...
No interaction in this version - I will try to play around with it over Christmas and see if I can come up with something a bit better.
Hope you like it.
This is amazing! I really would love to learn from you when it comes to how you were able to implemnt shadows around solids so nicely.
I am making a sandbox game and that is exactly the style i need if i want things to have a realistic feel for lighting purpose.Fantastic work and thank you for showing me this.
Glad you like it. After I have tidied it up a bit I will post the capx. Probably busy for the next couple of days so I will aim for 27th.
here is another test .
and the capx
just another logical step I guess...
maybe a little 3d ish ?
Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.
still playing with shadows but also trying to fake line of sight...
lost in shadows ?
I will tidy up the capx and post it if anyone is interested ?
By all means, please do post the capx!
A change of direction.
When trying to use line of site I wanted to make my objects hide behind the other line of site objects. I found that making all my objects solid just made them all invisible. Anyway this is a work around test.
I bet there is an easier way ?
line of site test
I will tidy up the capx and post soon.
Another method of doing shadows...
shadow test capx
hi and thank you for this. :) keep up the great work.
Maybe one day someone will implement proper shadows as a plugin. Until then this is the best place in the entire forum on doing a hack.
Looks even better with horizontal and vertical blur effect added.
The only issue with that is you have extra 25 (or more) objects for every shadow casting sprite.
mind = blown
