  • Hi guys,

I'm writing to see if anyone's interested in having a look at my game TinyPlanet in which I have submitted for the Rotary contest. I would love to get some feedback on the game, what's good about it, and how it can be improved! That way I can make better games in the future :)

If you've played the game before on the first release date, you might have noticed that it was too slow and had quite a nasty bug (not the ladybug lol, she's nice), but I re-tweaked my entry last night and it should come with 50% more fun! :D

Please let me know, thanks! :D

TinyPlanet is about a girl and her ladybug trying to regrow her planet in the dangers of space. They'll have to work together to destroy meteorites to stay alive. TinyPlanet is an action shooter with RPG elements made for the Scirra Arcade.

  • Its still to hard, too much rocks from the begining :s <img src="smileys/smiley11.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • imothep85 D'oh! I made it add rocks a little faster too. Have you tried blocking the rocks with the ladybug? It deflects them! Also have you tried using the Scatter shot skill with the [Z] button?

I may have gotten too good at the game while testing it a bazillion times D:

  • Yeah bit i have tried, but its stil ltoo much rocks, and i think too bigger from the beggining maybe the first wave of rocks can be smaller?? with less rocks?

  • Okay, thanks for the feedback imothep85! I'll tweak it a bit more :) Cheers!

  • Edit 3 - haha

Okay, I RTFM - quick suggestion.

UP arrow isn't used, would suggest that , as you're playing with cursors, UP would be the collector, at the moment (maybe I'm just not that good at it yet) I get confused between scattershot and collector.

I reckon having them in different places I.E non-weapon on right hand, move/ collection , weapon ( space fire / hold for charging scatter shot ) could make things a little more intuitive.

Less is more as they say. :)

Really like what you've got so far graphics wise, and the music was nicely paced and not to overbearing.

  • Good music. Nice graphics. For what it is I think you have done a good job. :)

The only thing i can really criticise is the instructions. (At the risk of sounding like a broken record) People dont want to read them - to get around this you can easily incorporate instructions into the gameplay itself.

Good luck in the comp Valkyrie.

  • Thanks for the constructive comments guys!

JohnnySix I didn't realize it was such an issue before, but I think you're right about the controls! I get a little confused myself, and watching one of my friends, she was really confused too. I'm not sure about making the up button for the collector because using the up button makes it that much harder to quickly move left or right. I think the controls I will go with is [x] for normal shot (this button can just be held down with the middle finger), [c] for star collector (it's more frequently used so place it where the index finger will go), and [z] for the scatter shot (less frequently used, and so can be pressed by the ring finger). I'm glad you like the choice of music :)

GenkiGenga Thanks for your nice comments! :) You're right about the instructions though. I'll see how I can work it in to the game :)

I'm definitely taking all this feedback in to account when I make my game for the HBGames + Construct 2 contest! :) Thanks!

  • JohnnySix I ended up using your controls after all. They were much more intuitive than my suggestion after trying them both!

  • I like the art, you are an amazing artist!
