in 2D realistic Trees are included 26 realistic trees in different stems.
  • Hey you,

Just want to see what you all think about these trees. I think number 1 is repeatable and doesn't stand out as much. Which could be good for a platform style game.

Tree 2 on the other hand is really alive and bright. Who doesn't love eye-candy?

Tree 3 is sort of in between.

What do you think I should use and why? Thanks!

hi; I can't see any trees

  • None, really. It all is too inconsistent; dirt, banana and snail have the 3D feel, while everything else is flat. Also, you don't want background objects to grab too much attention, so not too flashy - that rules the middle tree out.

Well, I am sure someone who studied graphic design can give you more sound advice.

where are the tree's .. sorry if im sounding dumb here ...

  • I mostly agree with Mipey. The snail and dirt/rocks have a unique look to them, and I think the banana could actually go either way, the but the trees have a "cut-out" feel. I actually *like* trees 1 & 2, but they don't fit the other other art. If I were giving art direction, I'd say convert the snail and ground to match Tree 3.

  • I should mention that the other art assets are from Scirra's graphic pack. They are just being used as place holders right now.

I am leaning towards Tree 3 right now. I am going to spruce it up a bit and then update the game on the arcade. See how it looks in action.

EDIT: This is what I came up with. Off to bed, leave comments.

and in-case you have images disabled

    Tree 003

  • I like 3 best too, 2 if all the other graphics were VERY geometric.

And if I was using those other graphics, I would have copied the bush, flipped and merged a top and bottom out of those.

ANd Tekniko, if you meant for your signature to show the graphic, make the IMG tags lowercase. The signatures don't like uppercase bbcode.

    Edit: you edited while I answered. I like that much better. <img src="smileys/smiley32.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

Now you should do the dirt spots with shadows to match the swirls in the tree, that would look cool.
