Match the rows with tofus to clear the rows before you pass the cook.
  • Just a game I made for a jam, and will probably keep working on in the future.

Navigate a world of darkness, using only your death to continue. Made for the Constraints Jam.

    Chosen Constraints:

    1. 3 colors or less

    2. Player has to die at least once every level

    3. Game must not have a tutorial

  • Hate to bump this, but just noticed this game is at 2.5 stars for rating. Are there any problems with the game?

  • I got stuck on the second level unfortunately, the geometry was too confusing and it was hard to tell what was a platform and what's a trap. I think that the painting mechanic needs to better display platforms, right now the dots don't really do it for me. Though, any improvements I can think off will probably just turn this game into INK (you should play it if you haven't already, given the similarities) as that game does what you're going for just a lot more elegantly. You'll probably learn a lot from that game as it is *quite* good.

Here's a quick list of improvements:

    • Add sustained jumping (tap for short hop, hold for leap)
    • replace the blood dots with splatter, dots are hard to connect and don't really show the geometry all that well
    • Refine collision for platforms vs spikes, simple touching the sides of a spike even if you're on a platform will kill you, which seems unfair to me since the geometry is poorly defined (see point 2).
  • Just added new blood graphics and made Level 2 a little less hard...now I need to start working on levels <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile">

  • For me the game was fairly easy. I made it through only dieing once or twice. This is because the color of black you choose for the BG and the color of black you chose for the geometry are two different blacks. So I could see the entire level layout without having to die at all. I do however LOVE this concept!

  • VictoryX Wow, I didn't even know you could see the platforms...interesting, I'll look into it. Thanks for the feedback!

EDIT: I just checked all of the RGB values of the different blacks, you must have a really high brightness or something else, because the background turned out to be 1, 1, 1, and the platforms 0, 0, 0....

  • I used to work in 2D to 3D conversions for movies. We would create depth mattes, a black to white image, to create the stereoscopic image. So I'm able to see differences in shades of black, grey, white more so than your average person I think.

  • VictoryX Ah, kk. I just changed the all the values to the same (0, 0, 0), so they should be impossible to tell apart now.
