Tutorial confusion...

  • Hey everyone. I'm using Construct 2 free, but I'm walking myself through the platformer tutorial. I'm using my own sprites, so not having the sprite pack ins't a big deal, but I've arrived at a section telling me to:

"Double-click player. Double-click Set position to another object. For Object, click <click to choose> and pick PlayerBox. Leave Image point as 0 (that means the origin). Click 'Done'."

This is referring to tying the player sprite to the playerbox. However, there is no "Set position to another object" behavior :c.

  • More info: the available behaviors in the Size & Position section are:

    Compare height

    Compare width

    Compare X

    Compare Y

    Is on screen

    Is outside layout

  • bump

  • easy solution.

Event and Action's are not the same.

An Event is a condition as in COMPARING or ON SITUATION.

What your looking for is to "add action"

    These

    Compare height

    Compare width

    Compare X

    Compare Y

    Is on screen

    Is outside layout

are an Event condition and not an action.

  • Be sure to read the manual and how events work alongside the tutorials.

Also please, keep the bumps for at least 24 hours (not 24 minutes) and use the "Edit post" function in the "Post options" dropdown rather than multiposting.

  • Oh derp. Sorry for the waste of time guys, I could have sworn that said add another event. Thanks for the info jayderyu. Thanks for those resources kyatric, and I apologize for the bump and multipost.
