I'm brand spanking new at C2 and I have just started making my first game. I'm trying to trigger a simple walking animation with the 8 directional movement control. I made my animation start upon loading the game by getting it to do a constant loop, but the loop starts and never stops and while it looks great when I'm actually moving the sprite, it looks like my sprite is a retarded dancer when It's supposed to be standing still.
I know that this is probably basic stuff, but if somebody could hold my hand through this one I would be forever grateful, thanks.
Use the 8Direction Is Moving condition on your sprite to determine which animation to play. You can also use the 8Direction Speed to determine the animation. Here is a simple example that demonstrates how to do it.
