How do I Solve these 2 Problems?

So I have following problems with my game:

1.: When running down, then staying, then going left/right, it doesnt change the animation to left/right, i need to click left/right again to start the animation

2.: My character stops for a short time after shooting.. But he should continue running, how can i do that?

Well I had nearly the same, but whats the problem there is: If you go diagonal like pressing right and down the down animation should play, but it plays no animation
