  • Helly guys!

My HTML game / Construct 2 game after exporting is almost 2,3MB. But after using intel XDK / Crosswalk tool, it generates a huge APK file of 20MB. Does anybody know any tip/trick to make it smaller?

    Thanks!

  • There's nothing you can do with it, when you export a game to crosswalk, your apk = images, sounds(2,3mb) + browser based on chromium engine(16mb or more)

  • Nope, I guess that is normal. My exports are all around that size too.

  • This questions pups up at least twice a week and answer is still the same. There is a search option on forum, use it.

  • Sorry about it shinkan! Guilty here. This time I really didn't look.

Either way... do you guys use any other tool whick makes it smaller and keep its performance? Seems like PhoneGap is about to get better now.

Thanks for both of your replies!

I use Intel XDK 1332 for Crosswalk. Which version do you use? Can you change APK's required use permissions?

  • In this day and age, size really isn't a factor.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Size is still a factor for c2 games, since google play and appstore has a 30mb limit for executables. If someday a function to make additional files will be added to crosswalk or c2, then the size will not matter.

It's actually 50mb for Google Play, and I don't think iOS implements a limit. Intel are working on support for expansion APKs to work around the limit, too.

Ah yeah, my bad 30mb is for cocoonjs, 50 for google play, and i'm not sure of appstore but apple says that developers can upload additional files, they had something like a limitation for 3-4g download for appstore or something like that, about 60-100mb. Anyway, i'm happy that the work on expansion files is on progress.

  • If it happens to have an app greater than 50MB, do you guys know how to split it in additional files? Thanks.

  • henriquesv read two posts above. Intel is working on it.
