  • I'd like to be able to do something Doom- or Everquest-like. Searched around, and there's nothing like that on the forums.

  • There's nothing on it since Construct 2 is a 2D game maker.

  • Isn't Doom fake 3d from a 2d engine? And like Wolfenstein and Blake Stone, etc?

  • That doesn't stop you from making a doom clone with simple pseudo 3d. But yea, for the average user, making a game in 3d in Construct is more trouble than it's worth. Search for a game called "Mega Thumb:Dream Match" by Quazi and I, It shows you the extent of 3d in Construct Classic. If C2 ever gets mesh distortion (which I doubt it will, since the sprites aren't polygons to begin with) then a 3d game like that will be theoretically possible. For now though, you can still make simple 3d with sprites alone, and a fair bit of math.

  • Oh, I looked it up on wikipedia, and it's 3d. Anyway, I'll just stick to 2d. Man, I wish I could even get a tilted view, you know? Like Vandal Hearts.

  • Well, that's what I was thinking, Davioware: psuedo 3d. Thank you. I'll look that up.

Also, about polygons: you can do affine transformations with Construct 2, so is it possible to create 3d texture blocks to simulate those? I've seen some "2d-Isometric" engines using html5.

I found some stuff on the web: sebleedelisle.com/demos/GravityParticles/ParticlesForces3D2.html

Move your mouse around it. It's awesome....

    And the finale:

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • R0J0hound recently released the Canvas Plugin, if you are good at math you can try to make some 3D by drawing polygons with it, don't know how fast it would be though.

  • Construct 2 is a 2D game engine, it's really the wrong tool for making 3D games. You might come up with some cool experiments but I don't think you'll get as far as a full game.

  • Ashley, I don't mean to pry, would there be anything that an end-user could do to push Construct 2 into the direction of being 3D-game compatible? For example, creating a polygon library?   <img src="smileys/smiley42.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

Yes, go tell Microsoft so endorse webgl.

    Edit:

Also there's nothing holding you back from making an isometric type of game In C2. 2.5d was around long before 3d.
