  • I have been following Ashley's tutorial for a platform game and I purchased some assets from the store.

the character sprites are all individual so I need to make them into sheets for idle, etc.

How do I combine these into a sprite sheet so I can use them the way the ones in the tutorial are used?

    Thanks,

    Ken

You don't need to convert to a sprite strip to import. Creating a sprite strip by hand is a slow process (for me anyway).

You can also select the 'Import Frames - from Files' option and just 'multi-select' the images to create the animation.

  • I need the sheet because I want to animate the action and the single sprites only have one pose. When I go to the events I need to put an action set of poses for an action. It looks like when I post them each individually they will not be in an action so I won't be able to use the event action.

Am I missing something that is not in the tutorial? She uses sets like "idle to run"or "run to idle".

I am very new to messing around with sprites.

  • You are not understanding what I've said.

As I said, you can 'multi-select' as many single images as you want which will create the animation. Use shift or ctrl key to select a range of individual images. A sprite strip is not necessary.

    From the manual:

[quote:3ivqrvqm]Import frames - from files... Opens a dialog to select one or more image files from disk. All the selected image files are added as animation frames.

  • I will give that a try.

    Thanks.

  • Try Construct 3

  • That worked.

I am going to have to play with this a lot more until I get used to it. I am making a platform game but using the instructions in the tutorial. If this works, I am going to have it tested out with the people around me and see what they think. Then I will determine where to go from there.

Maybe a year or two if I live that long.

    Thanks again.

  • Just take your time, and keep referring back to the relevant manual sections if needed.

Plus, there are many users on here who willingly give their own time to help, so don't worry about asking for help when you need it.
