How do I code my ship to fly diagonally using gamepad?

Hi,

I am creating a space shooter flying horizontal.

I was able to have my gamepad to control the ship to fly up down left right but I don't know how I can code the ship to fly diagonally. the ship always face right like the basic old days shooter.

Like if I press right and down at the same time the ship should be facing right while flying diagonally down right at an angle.

Please help. Thank you in advance.

did you try the 8-direction behavior?

Yes I am using 8-directional but when I am holding right + down buttons the player doesn't fly 45 degrees.

ohhhh you need 45 degrees? just press up + right that will make 45 degrees
