  • With the Grenlight going on right now, I was just wondering how C2 games are going to use the Achievement System that is inside every Steam Game Ever.

Are you working on a plugin for this?

  • I really wish it is, but I'm not sure this is even possible. I'd like to hear a confirmation on this: is Steam API through Awesomium possible?

  • If they get approved, i think they might be able to make a deal with valve. Valve doesn't give its steamworks API to game developers, until your game is approved.

  • Is there any way that C2 wont be approved? I think not :D

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • It's not clear how we would approach this: I don't think Steam currently supports HTML5 games, but I would prefer that approach to using Awesomium, especially since Awesomium is still not ready. I think we will have to discuss this with Valve and decide it at the time if we are accepted on Greenlight.

I wish you well with the Greenlight project and hope it brings more customers your way when it's approved. I did have a quick question though.

Will you still provide updated versions of C2 that won't require Steam? I hope so, if nothing else the stable release versions.

  • Hehe

Of course - we won't accept an exclusive deal with Valve, we will only go on Steam if we can continue distributing via our own website as well.

The only requirement is (afaik) that the game needs to be started with a .executable.

That should not be an issue. 3dCoat and a ton of games do this as well, they even distribute on several other platforms such as GamersGate.

    That's great!

I'm glad to hear that you will still be providing updates here on the website of the standard C2 install. Don't get me wrong, I'll be checking out the Steam version as well. <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

    Thanks
