I was wondering about C2s 3d capabilities

I was looking through some gamemaker stuff and I saw a few users had developed 'fake 3d' engines. Some of them actually looked pretty good. From my understanding they do it by shrinking, enlarging, and rotating the sprites. As I haven't seen anything like this in C2, I was wondering if it was possible. Here are some links to the games:

Fake 3D is definitely possible, but it'd be more worthwhile - finding an engine to suit the requirements of your game better.

All those games you linked are actual 3d games, not "fake 3d".

The second and third one may actually be what he described. Something like an advanced Mode7?

Nope. The second one does use sprites for the enemies and gun model, but it's still a 3D environment. Think Doom.

Game Maker supports real 3D rendering. C2 does not.

This is what I did some years ago in Game Maker with openGL plugin.

I still think they're not using actual models in the "an engine thing" example.

He places sprites in a 2D map and it becomes a 3D movement.

The 2D map seems just like a level editor, I think the runtime read their positions and create 3d objects accordingly later.

Unity is the Unity of 2D.

They're way over their heads imo.

Animmaniac, I think your right. I believe the guy who wrote the script programmed it to only render the 3d view on while the game is running to allow for easy editing.

Jayjay, that seems like a really cool plugin. Unfortunately, my browser doesn't want to run the example right now, but I can't wait til I can.

Are you guys basically saying it is impossible? My idea would be a still camera, and then shrink and enlarge the character.
