I'm new here and am not a game dev or graphic artist and was wondering if variable handling is a often a part of the process of developing a game. I'm trying to learn if people pass variables from a calling language from a DB to a game and back again. Is this common?
Variables are used a lot for just about anything, it just depends if you need them. I don't quite understand the second part of your question. Do you have a game that needs a database?
Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.
There are string and number values in the DB that need to be passed to the game, and shown to the player. After the game is over, I'd like some variables passed back to the DB as well. Trying to figure out if this kind of back and forth through C2 is common, or am I off base.
Thanks for the reply.
Im sure someone uses databases with c2, although I never have myself. You could look at the plugin list to see if there's something to help with that or maybe search the tutorials to see if someone explains how to do it.
I have built a game passing and fetching data to a mySQL db.
See tutorial section.
Thanks, are you talking about the manual or one of the 'guided' game tutorials?
