Why does the Spawn or Create Object (at runtime) does not allow to give a new name to the newly copied sprite?
how can I reference the newly copied sprite?
Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.
I think you are confused between objects and instances. Currently, you cannot create a new object at runtime, but you can create a new instance of an existing object.
You can reference it by its UID or by some other condition - look into 'picking'.
thanks a lot for info... yes i was looking more into copying a new object from a sprite object (not an instance)
Yeah, you can't really do that at runtime.
I am interested in knowing why you would want to be able to do this, however...
I am doing a simple coloring book for my son using his pictures, and I am using the Sprite Effects plugin to Tint sprites. Unfortunately this plugin does not work on Chrome, so I was planning to make a copy of sprites, color them, and then delete them to make the Tint effect work, as it seems that it will take time until the plugin will be fixed/updated.
Well, you might be happy to know that in r100, I think Scirra plans to add shaders, which will make toning sprites a breeze. It will definitely work in Chrome.
Great project idea, by the way!
Nice to know!
Hope someone will make a shader plugin to rgb colorize sprites
