R100 - Moving platforms

  • I just wanted to let you know that I have had issues with making a moving platform working properly with all previous versions of C2, especially vertical moving platforms! There are solutions - but none working perfectly.

    I just wan't thank Ashley for R100 and for fixing that problem. And you didn't even tell us about it :D

    Platform behavior: changed moving platform detector to better handle vertically moving platforms. Please watch out in case existing projects work differently due to this change.

  • I haven't tried the fix yet, but vertical platforms are on the list of things to put in my platformer one day. Glad to know it'll actually work once I get to it! <img src="smileys/smiley36.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

    But it works. I had to make some changes to make it work - but in the end it was worth the 20 minutes I used!

    I probably spent 10+ hours on trying to make it work in previous versions :D

  • Awesome, so many people asking about how to do vertical platforms for too long.

    It's finally not a problem. Amazing how with so many major features released with r100, Ash and Tom still manages to fit in so many of the smaller but just as useful features and fixes in.

  • Will have to back and check the list- I'd recently started playing with platforms again on a recent game. This one fix slipped under the radar - didn't know anything was changed!

    This one was pre 22nd, this one was post 22nd, with updated movement.

    Is it worth using custom movement for stuff like platforms now, rather than moving things via per-pixel each tick?
