  • Construct 2 is a game engine. It's not designed to do VR things like that.

  • I found an example of proof of concept, but its probably not C2:

People are starting to realize it could work: http://www.kotaku.com.au/2015/10/video- ... st-person/

I hope that people see VR as a portable TV too and that 2D games can work, otherwise it means the beginning of the end for 2D. Personally i think it gives the feeling of being inside the machine. Maybe a computer. Other possibilities could be a VR world with a handheld console in the world, that plays 2d games.

Ashley I have the utmost respect for your work at Scirra, However, the early Atari games were created on computers that were not intended for the task and I want to believe that it is possible.....somehow.

I just did a bit of research and 1 possible way might involve the developer version of the Hololens which was just released last month. Combine that with the universal platform and it might just be possible, but it would cost a few hundred pound to find out, which I don't have.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

It looks like it was made in a 3D engine. The camera follows the player but also can be controlled with the VR headset to look around. The distance of the camera and the 2D sprites gives this feeling of "you can look around the level".

    Don't be so dramatic. <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy"> VR won't kill 2D games, it won't even kill regular, non-VR 3D gaming.

Yes, that's a possibility, also there's a software called Virtual Desktop: http://store.steampowered.com/app/382110/ People say that it's great to play 2D games with it. Note however that it will be still 2D. The video you linked before was a 3D game.

  • imothep85 - If you are referring to making 3D games for VR in Construct 2, then it will not be possible. But if you are creating 2D games, for example for android. You do not need Scirra team to add any VR features since it is up to the user if he/she will buy a Samsung VR Gear and play your game with it. And your game will be automatically supported with any VR Gear because it is based on the screen not on the game program.

  • Vr is starting to become big with android apps. Google cardboard is getting more and more attention. Thus most of the major game engines already support it or its on their roadmap. Ashley if you have no plans to support it thats ok. But implying that VR is not a gaming platform is silly. You can make 2d and 3d games for google cardboard. Just not with construct2
