Fully commented source code/event sheet & sprites to create a space shooter game
• Hi, I don't know if this is the right forum to post this question. If not, let me know.

I'm playing around with the free version of C2, but it suddenly told me that I have exceeded the limits for the free version. I didn't think I had, but maybe you can tell me if I'm wrong. I have one layout with 4 layers, one with one layer, one event sheet with 2 events, and another event sheet with one event. So there should be quite some time before I hit the limit of a 100 events. Is it something about the layers? I thought you could have 4 layers per layout? I even tried deleting a layer, but it didn't seem to have an effect.

Thx in advance.

• When did it tell you the limits had been hit? If you were trying to add a layer, it will tell you that if you have already got 4 layers, since the free edition is limited to 4 layers.

• Try Construct 3

• Here is the detail on the limits of the free version.

• I don't remember exactly when it happened, but I think it happened when I wanted to add a new event. Then I got the popup about the limits. I'd been working with four layers without any problems. But does CS2 lock the project permanently once you hit the limit? I would think it would be unlocked once you got under the limit again.

• You can see the number of events in the bottom right bar.

Global variables also do count as one event.

A project with more than the event count can be opened in the free version but indeed can't be edited anymore.

• Thx for your answers, it's pretty cool that the developers take time to answer forum threads:)

It says in bottom right corner that I have four events, so that's well under a 100. So I don't understand what the problem is:(

I have four layers on one layout, and 1 on another. Is the four layer maximum a total, distributed across all layouts, or is it four per layout?

• I heard from a friend the other day who has the free version of Construct that when they were deleting events the Total number of events was not going down. So if they have 99 events, delete 10 and then add 2 more, they would still hit the 100 event cap. That seems to be the same problem OP is having.

I'm at work so I can't download the free version to test, but could there be a bug in that version? I actually thought this was a bug that was fixed in the free version a while ago, so maybe it crept back in? Or it didn't and my memory is just bad

• Can you share the .capx which seems to incorrectly tell you about the free limits?

It will allow you to keep using the project if you go back under the limits. So I think you must've done something like somehow added a fifth layer, or added more than two effects, or exceeded some other limit.

• It seems to work now. I deleted a sprite that had two effects on it, and the limitation warning disappeared. Weird thing was that the warning didn't return when I pressed ctrl+z to get the sprite back. I have a sprite with two effects that I have cloned twice, so there's a total of six effects in the project. Anyway, it seems to be working now, even though I'm not completely sure why
