  • So i've been trying various ways to get my game on android phones with varied success

Phonegap wont give me anything besides a blank, white screen

AppMobi however worked perfectly but i had to do some serious tweaking to get a decent framerate on my small test app

So i'm wondering how phonegap compares to appMobi performance wise?

Since phonegap is free should i expect even lower performance from it?

Are there other viable alternatives or do i just have to put in some work on really optimizing my game if i want it android?

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • Both are meh. Honestly I'd wait for a better option.

  • Yea, i may have to stick it out a bit longer

Cocoonjs looks really promising from the demo. Hopefully it will be compatible with C2 down the line

  • Appmobi's performance is about to get better:

Yea, i've seen it before, i think it was posted in the subreddit

So how close is that to being real?

Because on the test i ran on a Sony tablet s and a lg optimus 2x it was rather choppy with only a few object on screen

  • jn2002dk, are you using r81? You may have the export bug when exporting to PhoneGap. Should be fixed in r82.

PhoneGap and appMobi should in theory have identical performance, because they both just use the phone's browser to run the game. However, as the video shows we're working on directCanvas for appMobi which should make it a lot faster. Hopefully it will be done soon!

That's cool, guess i will mess around with appMobi some more since it's also working for me <img src="smileys/smiley36.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

Yea, i'm using r82 64 bit version. It exports fine to HTML5 and works with no issues in appMobi just not in phonegap for some reason

  • I was having the same problem with phonegap too. Did you try not zipping

the "phonegap" JS file along with everything else? That's why it wasn't

working for me, after I stopped putting that file in the zip it worked fine.

    That worked!

    Thank you

    You're awesome <img src="smileys/smiley4.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • I just thought of a question, might be a stupid one but i'm not very familiar with HTML5 coding, so here goes

Will direct canvas support mean multi touch support as well or is it still limited by the device browser?
