  • First of all a big thanks to the guys at Scirra who allowed me to share this with you. <img src="smileys/smiley32.gif" border="0" align="middle">

I've compiled the online manual into a downloadable - printable pdf version. This manual is slightly different in that everything is split into many smaller documents instead of one great big one, why? because C2 is still progressing and things will be added / tweaked and why print out a 150 page manual ...again... when just one little thing has changed?

For this reason it's all split up so if something is changed / added you just have to print out that 2/3 page section.

    C2 Downloadable Manual - In zip format - 10mb.

If there's anything missing or wrong could you let me know so I can correct it, thanks. <img src="smileys/smiley4.gif" border="0" align="middle">

  • Thanks a lot. This will be really useful for offline read and print <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" /> .

  • Thanks for that. I'll be off home and probably also internet for 3 months, so I bet I'll be using it a lot.

Could you add one more document where'd be all pages and their location? Something like a tree structure, plus maybe with a little description. I think it'd be easier for searching, if I had been looking for how to add music, I could see that I need to look into the - Plugins folder - and PLUGINS - AUDIO OBJECT.pdf.

How it is with .pdf and hyperlinks? In the online manual, there are references to the oher parts of the manual but they are missing in here. Is it possible to add relative links to other .pdf documents? If not, I guess it'd be better to make the manual it HTML.

You have a little spelling mistake in the post title <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • I've now corrected the title (doh!)

The pdf version should follow the online version so you should be able to find things that way, the reason is that as C2 continues there'll be a lot of changes / additions and page numbers will change.

The pdf links should have really been removed (I did with some) as this is meant to be a printable version, also there will be an official downloadable version coming which will no doubt preserve all the links in the pdf.

Then if I'm offline, I can't check that and have to search through all folders. When the manual grows bigger and you'd assemble a new version, you'd have to update just the "index.pdf". Plus, it'd be helpful for beginners, they'd know where to start. Now, folders are sorted by name when overview should be first, interface second... as in the online version.

  • This is neat! Totally helpful! Maybe someday we can make a book about this entitled "Construct 2 For Dummies" :P. But I think that's only when C2 grows so big already.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • I could add an index of sorts showing the order in which the manual should be laid out but I couldn't add page numbers as those would change as and when new stuff is inserted. Yes?

  • Good ideas

Lets commercialise the book right now!

    :p

Lol wait! Can i download it first. :)

Really good work btw, i know it will come in handy. Thank you!

  • Thanks for converting the manual to PDF, it is greatly appreciated!

  • Yoink!!

  • Hope you all find it useful, I'll be adding Families as and when it arrives in the official manual. :)

Perhaps this could be stickied so it's readily available to new comers? just a though. :)

  • A mention is made in the sticky The manual topic in the first post.

  • yup, that's a good move ! Thanksfor sharing this

  • Wohoo! I was searching for this yesterday!

I have a request, though... How hard would it be to convert the manual to ePub? I'd love to get it on my eBook reader, but PDF is not exactly ideal for it because it has a small screen (5").
