Casino? money? who knows? but the target is the same!
• You do not need a license to develop plugs.

• Sounds like a great contest. Restricted to fee edition makes sense given the audience and awards. Plus like Wink said you can always pass on the license if you don't need it.

I get the point about plugins maybe skewing it a little. But the great plugin and behavior list is available for all to use. And if someone creates a plugin in the time frame of the competition to help circumvent a limitation and makes a winning game also in the same time. Well Congrats that kind of effort deserves a prize. I also hope they release the plugin afterward.

An Honor system for if it runs in free edition is fine. I mean nothing is stopping someone from posting the their final .capx. Heck could even garner some positive opinion for an entry. As a good faith gesture.

I'd like to say I'll give it a go, if nothing else I now know of another game design forum to lurk in and learn from.

• I'd rather everyone not be too terribly concerned about restrictions--it seems like you guys are really focusing on them, and that's not the point of the contest.

Like Onzephyr said, I would prefer to try to uphold the honor system here. Obviously all of you with the Standard license will know what will seem like you're giving yourself an unfair advantage.

Remember that the HBG members will be coming into the contest with little/no knowledge of the software.

However, if someone severely goes above and beyond here, and they figure out a way to successfully get a million amazing things happening all at once in the Free version, then kudos to them.

If we suspect that you went way outside the confines of the Free edition, we MAY request your capx. That'll be the exception rather than the rule, though.

We're all laid back at HBG. Don't worry; be happy. (Make games.)

• I think people are missing the whole point with this competition, it's to let new people a chance to win a copy of construct and experiance how fun it is to create games using it, also to expand the community. In order to not get scared away by all the people already owns the copy and are used to construct, instead everyone play on the same level when using construct free for the competition.

I think this is a great way to expand the community!

(you can still show the power of construct using 100 events and plugins that everyone using the free version can use)

• Will try and do this if I have the time, but alas, my dissertation must come first!

• How are you going to know weather we used family's or not? there not visually notable

• The honour system smitchell.

If you use families Jiminy Cricket will appear on your shoulder and start singing a song. By the end of it you will be back on the moral path. At least thats how it goes in the movies :)

• Seriously guys, don't be that focused on screening cheaters.

The aim of this contest is to promote C2 and make it known by other communities (while giving some gift to the best)

Having the free version as limitation will be like "look at what you can already do with only the free version. Now imagine what you could do with the standard illimited version"

Those who know me know that I'm kind of a technician with C2 and that I can make some convoluted stuff with the tool like pseudo 3D or gravity stuff.

But technic DOESN'T make good games. It helps a lot, but first you need to be a good designer (that's what I'm lacking (: )

I can tell you that you can make MoonShield and probably most of Airscape's mecanisms in less than 100 events.

Cubemaze is 483 events but Moonshield and Airscape are way better.

So yeah more than 100 events won't necesseraly make a better game. The simpler the better. Try to keep the 100 events limitation and work around that, you might even make something better.

Help C2 be known and show that the C2 community is fair. It's should be more than enough.

As far as I'm concerned I won't participate. I have too much project in my mind. But, I will help anybody that needs it (and ask politely :D). You can also ask me by pm if you want to keep your project secret. But I prefer when answers are shared.

Good luck every one and make good games (: .

Wise words. Let's keep in mind that this contest is primarily for the HBGames.org community. Maybe we should keep out of it to give them the best chance to see what Construct 2 can do, and so enlarge the Scirra user base

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
• Cross-posted in the HBGames thread, are multiple entries allowed?

(And my personal preference would be no plugins allowed, but since the free version can use them, it makes sense...)

• One entry per person, I'm afraid. Didn't really think that'd come up, since making your own game is kind of big task! Haha.

Instead of making multiple games ... Just make your one entry SUPER AWESOME :P

• Hey Venetia. Should it only be for games competition one could also make apps with it.

• Hey Venetia, does the game need to be entirely finished? Or can it be one or two really polished levels to a longer game?
