I'm thinking about buying a personal license but I was wondering if there are any significant performance differences between the Steam version and the non steam version? I've read that the Steam version is not as stable as the non steam version. Is there any truth to this? Should I just buy it from the Scirra store?
I don't think "not as stable" is a good way to put it, but there's certainly a truth to it that a lot of the developers (myself included) suggest to go with the non-Steam version.
Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.
I always think of the developers when tossing up on buying something from Steam - steam takes a 30% cut + you have the steam DRM to contend with, while pretty non intrusive it's still DRM and may give you trouble once in a while. It's a no brainer I think, I always try to buy from the devs direct. You can always add the shortcut into steam anyway.
