  • Recently I just finish the steps of publishing to blackberry Playbook.

Finally I can complete the release signing and deploy with debug mode.

But I don't know if anyone encountered this:

The C2app.bar would make the sound volume suddenly become max.

I am sure the only function I've used is Audio-play sound.

The sound performed normally at first play,

then the volume seems forced to be max.

I am not sure it's the problem from software or hardware.

Thanks if anyone knows how to do.

  • Are you sure it's not a bug with the Blackberry browser or OS? AFAIK, other platforms all treat volume as they are supposed to.

    I don't know, but it's highly possible.

    I've tried iOS(phonegapbuild/appmobi/CocoonJS)/Android/Playbook/Win8 till now.

What I am sure is blackberry webworks is a mess.

Any name with space blank may cause unknown bugs.

There's no real portrait mode in iOS/Android meaning,

You can turn a .bar up and down then crash with a portrait tag.

I'll try to contact with a RIM evangelist in Hong Kong.

  • Blackberry Playbook OS doesn't support ogg sounds

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • The sound problem seems fixed (with ogg inside) after latest OS updating.

    However, another condition occurred.

You can't use any TEXT object, or you'll get a black screen.

    What can I say?

Compared with my last app (April), I got 1/10 revenue from my new iOS title in first 3 days,

therefore, I can't give up (BB).

In my country, the last app people talking about is "Drawsomething" several month ago,

    nothing new.

It will be an "Appstore Bubble",

    I'm worrying about that.

  • You can't use any TEXT object, or you'll get a black screen.

You mean you had to display all text as a sprite/graphics to have it work?

Once I manage to have a working version of my game on iOS, the PlayBook was next on my list so I think your experiences with the different appstores are very valuable to this community. When you talk about an "appstore bubble" you mean a specific appstore in particular or in general, ie. people are getting tired of searching new things among the countless crappy apps around regardless of platform?

    All best!

Yes, actually I am trying to remake my text with sprites.

(Spritefont is an excellent plugin but it isn't acceptable by CocoonJS so far.)

1.In some information I got, they said BB users (13% originally )are going to iOS and Android. RIM always insist their costumers are high class and rich ones. I don't know why a rich person have to buy a Playbook but the most expensive iPad3 64GB.

2.Android, in my country, developers can't get paid from googleplay except iap/iad. And we know only 1.3% Android users pay for apps (while iOS is 13.5%).

3.iOS, if you have watched the recent news about iOS6, apple canceled the page for new apps on Appstore. It almost kills indies who are lack of resources on marketing.

4.It almost 800+ apps/day published on iOS appstore now. Users can always find better and free games there. When everything forced to be free there (like android), only big companies with large end users can survive.

I know I am not the happiest optimist.

  • Temporarily, TEXT problem can fixed by set scale to letterbox integer scale,

but it may makes your app looks too small on playbook.

    (Maybe like this kind: <img src="http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/gonzdevour/20121010_035205.jpg" border="0">)

I'll post my zip to RIM forum, but I am not sure whether a C2 project zip is understandable by RIM advisor.

The post is including sound bug and text bug,

If anyone knows anything about how to deal this, plz help me to fix this bug. Thanks.

  • Though official docs of BB said that playbook support webgl,

after testing for several days, I am sure now if you turn webgl on,

you can't use any text object on BB app.(r106 game will crash)

    Sound still a tragedy.

Only music seems normal in first play.

If you play short sound by touch or collision,

    it play twice.

After this submit, I won't try BB before it's next OS update.
