  • Has anyone gotten the new Galaxy Nexus with the Ice Cream Sandwich OS yet? I know it was just realest but someone here must have gotten it. I met someone tonight that just got it, and maybe it is just the phone itself but the phone does not come with a front facing camera, so you cannot really use face unlock, and without NFC support Android Beam is fairly impotent too. But even some older features of Android, like Wi-Fi, and automatic screen rotation, are not functioning properly either.

I haven't been able to test out any html5 games on it because the girl I met that just got the phone was exactly that a 21 year old that I met in a club. And after she let me check out her phone, and all the questions I asked about it she thought I was a total geek, and didn't want anything to do with me. But I was just wondering if the sound issue we were all having with only one sound at a time is fixed in this new version?

Also I was thinking of buying an Android but just wondering if anyone has heard anything official about what preexisting phones will support an upgrade? The new Galaxy Nexus only has a 528MHz processor so maybe I will just wait.

    Any info would be appreciated <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

there is a front facing camera. and it's a 1.2Ghz dual core processor. and some other stuff.

are you sure it's a galaxy nexus phone you tried out or did someone put a custom rom with ICS on a different phone?

  • Yeah, sounds like a different phone. Was the screen curved? That's only the case for the Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus.

  • That actually sounds alot like the G1- the original Google sponsored phone with android. They just released and alpha build of ICS for it and the clock speed is 528. I used to have one but recently upgraded.

  • Well after doing some searching I think the girls phone I was checking out might have been the G1 like yankeesbro said but with the new Ice Cream Sandwich OS running on it.

Idk I was out celebrating my birthday when I seen it so I honestly cant remember if the screen was curved or not. Actually I cant remember very much at all from that night. lol It's just that I got a very old blackberry, and I really want to buy a new Android. But I cant find a service provider were I live that has the new upgrade yet for there phones, and I want to make sure I get a decent enough phone that will support the new OS, and run html5 games on it well.
