  • Link to .capx file (required!):

    None - this error consistently occurs with Projects and NOT single file capx. It happens with ALL of my projects.

    Steps to reproduce:

    1. Open any C2 Project (saved as Project and NOT capx).

    2. Make a modification to the Project (without saving).

    2. Open PowerPoint 2007 or Excel 2007 and save the file to the root folder where the C2 .caproj file is saved.

    3. Press Save in the C2 project.

    Observed result:

    <img src="https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/184657779/C2_demos/C2%20save%20fail.png" border="0" />

    C2 fades as if the save process has started and then nothing else happens. Computer can only be recovered by pressing Return, at which point a popup message appears stating that the Save has failed. Click on message OK and C2 remains '1/2 faded' until the PP/Excel file is closed and Save is pressed again.

    Expected result:

    The C2 project saves normally.

    Browsers affected:

    None - N/A

    Operating system & service pack:

    Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 with MS Office 2007

    Construct 2 version:

    R152 64 bit (this has happened on previous versions).

  • Can't reproduce on Windows 8.1 x64 with Word 2010. Perhaps they changed how the file saving works? I can't think why Office saving would get in the way of C2 saving, since they shouldn't touch each other's files, unless Office is trying to lock the entire folder - but then it would affect all sorts of applications, not just C2...

  • One of the risks of running a very dated version of Office I guess - wierd how the saving processes seem to have become entangled like that. It's easy to work around however, and I'm glad it doesn't affect the more modern software...
