  • Same problem here, it does not work in VS2012 if I export a minified version.

    All works fine with an un-minified version.

    However if i minify the js myself outside of construct, it works!

    So the problem is most probably with the C2 minifier

  • iunkn I wanted to try out your Metro/Windows 8 plugin but after running the install.cmd now when I open Construct 2 I get this error:

    <img src="http://i46.tinypic.com/snl5k3.png" border="0" />

    I am using R109, and Windows 8 Pro. I didn't change the install directory path or anything. Is this plugin compatible with Win 8 Pro, and R109? Also is there a way to manually install your plugin?

    Edit 1:

    I got a little impatient so I thought I would do a little experimenting, and I think I got it working good now.

    What I did was I popped open your install.cmd, and manually installed it by following the install paths. I wasn't sure what "md" stood for but after examining the rest of the line I assumed it meant to create a new folder inside the Construct 2\exporters\html5\plugins folder named "metro".

    Then I copied, and pasted everything from your Plugin folder into the new metro folder.

    After that I copied, and replaced the index.html, index-fs.html, and project.jsproj files from your plugin over the ones in the Construct 2\exporters\html5\metro\ folder.

    I hope I did that correctly. Everything seems to work so I'm going to give your plugin a try now. It looks very impressive it has just about every feature available to use in the Windows 8 store. This should make building my game very easy.

    Thanks for creating this awesome plugin. I hope you keep it updated into the future. <img src="smileys/smiley4.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

    Edit 2:

    I guess I did something wrong because now when I try to run one of your samples with Construct 2 I get this error:

    <img src="http://i46.tinypic.com/70jslk.png" border="0" />

  • Wink:

    Are you still facing issues? (Sorry about the delayed response) I just tried C2 r110 and installed my plugin r10 and I was able to open the Ghost Shooter sample r10 just fine.

    You might want to uninstall c2 and try again? Also, note that when you run the install.cmd it should be from an admin prompt.

    Thanks! Glad you are finding it useful :)

  • Wink:

    For your second Edit, I just now realized that you must have had "Enabled" flag to true when you ran it from Construct 2. You have to set it to false if you want to preview from C2. (Turn it back on when you are ready to export to Windows 8)

  • Thanks iunkn <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" /> Yes setting Enabled to false fixed it no more errors.

    I also tried to run the install.cmd from a prompt as administrator. It creates the new metro folder in the plugins directory but it just gives me errors for the rest of it saying could not find install path.

    So I just installed it manually like I did before, and set Enabled to false. Now everything works fine.

    Thanks again for your help.

  • I can't use the plugin either...get the same error. I'm running it on C drive which is where Construct is. And ran it in an elevated command prompt.

  • Solved it by copying the contents of the plugin folder in to the metro folder that is created when running the install.

  • Not sure why the script is not working for some people. It seems to work for me on multiple setups.

  • iunkn

    I'm trying to install it on my windows 8 box and I am getting an error as well.

    I installed via admin command prompt. All the files are in the metro folder under plugins.

    The error is

    <img src="http://www.arcadeinabox.com/screen.png" border="0" />

    Fixed the issue, my common.js was corrupted.

  • Try Construct 3

  • I am getting a blank screen after exporting to windows phone 8 in C2 [r114]. If i disable Metro plugin then everything works. I used the sample Monster Project , the behavior is same please help.

    Does is work for Windows Phone 8 app export or only for Windows 8 Apps ?

  • Hi all,

    This is by far the best plugin for Win8!

    However with the two latest releases - R124 and R125 - it appears to be broken:

    1) The Reset Game option no longer works - selecting Reset just closes Charms panel

    2) The In-App-Purchase test mode no longer works - selecting Purchase just closes Charms panel

    3) Using the back arrow on the Charms bar header just closes the panel

    Does anyone else have the same problem?

  • I would recommend you just use the built-in Windows 8 object. It can do most of what the third party plugin does, and is stable as far as I am aware, whereas this one seems to have some bugs and isn't being updated.

  • Hi Ashley, thanks for the reply and for taking the time to post here.

    I appreciate what you are saying - this is the draw back when using third party components.

    One of the things MS encourages with Win8 apps is a polished experience which the third party plugin provides very nicely.

    I will resort to the built-in one if I have to, but reluctantly, because iunkn's has a couple of excellent features that give the metro-app experience a real boost and with all due respect, leave the built-in one wanting a great deal.

    Regards

    Michael

  • michael what features are missing from the official object?

  • thehen - Hi,

    In particular having music and sound controls in preferences gives a consistent feel to other win8 apps, and having the reset option on same preferences panel is a nice touch.

    Also good to be able to test-purchase.

    Not sure how roaming works with scirra's plugin, but iunkn's plugin works with AsJSON....
