Construct 3 Free for Ludum Dare 46

Ludum Dare is a worldwide game jam where games are made from scratch in a weekend. This weekend (April 17th-20th 2020) is Ludum Dare 46, and we're excited to make the full version of Construct 3 completely free to use for the full duration of the jam!

All features will be available, including the mobile app build service, the new JavaScript coding feature, the new Timeline animation features, and everything else. It's the ideal time to try out Construct 3 - if you're taking part in Ludum Dare, give it a go!

How to use it

All you need to do to use the full version of Construct 3 for free during the jam is:

  1. Make sure you've registered a free account
  2. Visit editor.construct.net to load Construct 3
  3. Log in with your account (choose Menu - Account - Log in) - you'll then have access to the full version!

Ludum Dare’s site has full details about when the jam starts and ends, specific to your timezone and we’re making sure Construct 3 will be free for the duration of the jam! Until the jam kicks off you can still use the free edition to familiarise yourself with Construct - perhaps start with the Beginner's guide to Construct 3 if you're new.

  • Thank you guys for doing this! Construct is a great tool for Ludum Dare. I haven't participated in LD for a few years, but with the world shut down due to COVID-19, I'm tempted to join in and give Construct 3 a shot. Hopefully the theme is inspiring.

  • That's superb cool! Thank you so much! Already did an account at Ludum Dare and can't help being full of anxiety right now. I tried it a couple of times but never finished anything. I hope to be able to finish it this time. :D

  • Right in the last hour of the jam, when trying to publish our game, we get sent back to the free edition. We had a great experience using C3 so far, but now we get locked out of even publishing the game?

    • Not sure if it's universal but my desktop version is still working if you're using the browser which has also ended for me.

      You can save the project file from your browser open it in the desktop version and export it from there. Not ideal/possibly won't work for you but thought it worth mentioning when I saw this in-case.

      I'd hope they would allow the final hour of submission time for it to still be available.
