We will talk about our demo game develpmnent over here. If you have any interesting ideas for the battle features, characters or story post them here.
alee - advanced programming
SoldjahBoy - Gui ( will this gui include inv, stats, items, battle commands etc? )
Aeal5566 - editor ( i dont know what the features of this editor are, but eventualy would you concider adding some new features?)
ansmesnobody - battle mode demo ( i'll quote him: "I was thinking of making a battle mode demo for RPG's: If it comes out good, i'll pass it on to you,")
linkman2004 - smaller things (mainly coding)
QuaziGNRLnose - animation aspect of battles ( will this include fx animations? )
shinkan - sound fx, 3d work (modeling, rigging, special effects, eventualy animations)
megatronx - 2d and 3d graphics, music, sounds, story and game design.
Rough version of the main plot:
Group of magical beings from outher dimension is arriving to the planet Jaregody to worn people about upcoming destruction. But when they are realising they late, and that evil is already sendig its spawns, they are choosing few open harted people, and using them as their hosts, they are becoming one with them. Now, with magical abilities, a group of young heroes must quest to find and aweake anccient guardian of the planet - The Greate Protector. Only he can save it from approaching evil force known as The Dark Wonderer.
Ideas for battle system:
Visual: animated envirement elements like grass, clouds, trees etc.
System: To not to complicate to much we can stick with something similar to FF from the 90's. plus we can add battle commands like special atacks or power attacks, enchanting weapon with magic power and combine attacks.
Ideas for locations:
Visual: animated envirement elements ^^, pre-drown backgrounds with tile interactive elements.
For dungeons or duengon style locations we can use special tilesets.
Ideas for gameplay:
Less locations but more interesting content in them. More focus on weapon crafting than shoping them in town stores.
In the first demo, lets aim for the engine and gfx presentation as a main priority. Story elements we will add later. I`ll do few maps, and prepare few characters and enemies.
Character animation and movement on the map:
I think we should go for 8 direction movement with high frame number per action.
I just would like point out again that i know we are all busy with our other things, and i just whant you to know that we don't have to hastle with it. But at the same time, it would be nice to finish it within 2 months.
