This .Capx tutorial attempts to show through demonstration, a method to quickly, easily and simply create a navigationable menu; using both a text based menu or sprite based menu to help the player comfortable navigate to the main game.

.

Demonstration

An example of the simple menu has been uploaded and hosted in the Scirra Arcade. It can be found here. Click Here!.

.

.Capx File

Since the comments withing the .Capx file are used to explain the method used. It is worth downloading it to study. Furthermore the layer, familes and family variables can be seen withing it. The .capx file can be found

Tutorial

Text Based Menu

I apologies for the heavy use of images. This first part deals with the text based menu, the other menu is sprite based. This tutorial assumes you are studying the .capx, since it is the learning tool used here.

1 - Create text Objects

.

2 - Create Layers

.

3 - Create & Add Familes

(Text to text family)

.

4 - Create & Fill Family Variables

.

5 - Start of Layout

.

6 - Mouse Over

.

7 - On Click

.

.

Sprite Based Menu

The second part for the "Sprite" menu can be found within the .capx, since it is similar in its use of family members, but used opacity and scale instead.

As mentioned above the .capx can be found

Here!

Cheers,

-Adam
