So everybody not agreeing with your political views is an idiot? Wow.

I was making a joke. Well, okay, I was half-joking. But to offer up a serious response to your question:

Did you watch any of the McCain speeches where he talked to people? Or see any footage of interviews with attendees at his rallies? Quite a few literally believed that Obama was was a Muslim terrorist and was going to destroy the country. McCain had to stop people and say "No he's not, he's a good person, etc." Those people live in the red states in a much higher concentration than in the blue states.

It's also a fact that people living in the red states (ie, the South) are (on average) less educated than those in the blue states.

As for anecdotal evidence, I lived in Texas for a year, and yeah... just about everyone there is a goddamn moron. Sure, I met plenty of intelligent people with varying political views, but for the most part everyone was pretty stupid. And this was before 9/11. I'd hate to be there after with all the pseudo-patriotic "kill all Muslims" testosterone crap that followed. Stupid people are easy to scare with baseless accusations like "omg Obama is a Muslim terrist." If you have half a brain you can filter out the bullshit from the facts and make a sound decision.

Does that make me sound elitist? Eh, oh well. I guess if you think making sweeping observations about the intelligence of certain groups of people is elitist then I can live with that.

I dont know about you. But Im scared shitless. I love Obama, I think he is exactly what America /the world needs right now. But Ill be amazed if he doesnt get shot.

I'm a little worried about that too. When he took the stage for his acceptance speech I was whispering to myself "don't get shot, don't get shot."

I guess it's some consolation that he is now the most protected person in America. The secret service has been at this a while, you'd have to think they know a little about what they're doing.

  • I'd just like to point out that that map is all over the place. For instance, it shows California as one of the least educate states, but they almost always vote democratic, but Oklahoma, which is almost always Republican, more educated. Really, it seems fairly even to me.

Also, all of the morons calling Obama a terrorist(which is, quite frankly, retarded) and stuff are what we call EXTREMISTS. Both sides always have and always will have them.

wonder were they got that idea..

both party's have extremist. but left extremist love tofu, saving polar bears and hugging trees.and hate walmart

right extremest love guns, hunting and war. and hate people of different ethnicity and religion.

  • This war between left and right

Funny, in europe (or at least in nordic countries) we think that the both parties would be at least somewhat right. The republicans would just be MORE right :D. (From American viewpoint, maybe some parties here are extreme left? Dunno.)

  • I wish politics in the UK was as interesting and inspirational as in America!

  • I wish politics in the UK was as interesting and inspirational as in America!

yeah its Exciting , but vary little ever gets done. we just seem to move left and right, hardly ever forward.

  • I'd just like to point out that that map is all over the place.

That's why I emphasized the "on average" part.

Look, I'm not saying that everyone in the south is an idiot. I'm just saying there are more idiots in the south. On average. I have no control over why that is the case, I'm simply stating a fact, and drawing a correlation. It's not like I pulled those numbers out of my ass, that's the US Census Bureau's website.

And yeah, you could say that people who think Obama is a terrorist are "extremist," but in my book they're "idiots" as well because they believe in something that is patently untrue.

Yeah, this right here pretty much sums up American politics.

yup, im canaidian, under 18 and i understand this, america has HUGE campaigns, that go on till people get sick of them, no one remembers what obama said on the 3rd week 2nd day 8th hour of his campaign, what a waste of money. most uneducated americans dont even care to listen to what they have to say, all they do is vote based on what their friends/family are saying and want a democrat cause they blame everything on bush right now (ALOT of whats happening was congresses fault, they passed no laws to control the banks lending in any way.)

anyways, what america needs is a reform, not a freaking president, i doubt much will change, infact i think with obamas poor track record, well see that he wont live up to what people thought about him, and then people will get mad. obama will be in worse position than bush is, because america is in a worse position than it was then.

america should stop wasting so much time and money on things like elections, here in canada we take about a month to elect our prime-minister. and we are in a very good position economically, with no debt. he does a good job and well, we didnt waste years and 10s of millions of dollars on the campaign.

link man speaks the truth, or at least thats IMO

  • Its not like he has a choice. Campaigns run that long here in America. That's just how it is. You can't blame the guy for running a long campaign. Yes, they could be much shorter, and yes, they should be, and hopefully some day they will be. But it's not Obama's fault they're not. And since he wanted to (and did) win, you can hardly blame the guy for spending so much money. And seeing as how he was given all that money in small amounts by people who expressly wanted him to use it to campaign with, well... that's exactly what he used it for.

As for regulation on bank loans... A good 50% of Americans (I won't name names) don't think there should be such regulations because that's just government interference in the free market.

Oddly enough, these are the same Americans who call Obama a socialist for wanting to reform taxes for the middle class because he's "spreading the wealth around," but see no problem whatsoever in using taxpayer money to perform a bailout on America's failing financial institutions. Ironic, or just plain hypocritical?

  • hypocritical?
