Is it possible to make simulation game using Construct 2?

  • Why you want to copy a game and not think of an own idea

As a programmer I can say: Everything's possible: It's just a matter of how much efforts you put in it.

If you take a look at how many lines of code this guy has used you can understand just how long it would take to make the game, think I saw 815+ lines of code used in part 1 lol..... On a positive note on Construct 2 anythings possible, making games is all about solving problems, don't give up eventually you will do it <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_wink.gif" alt=";-)" title="Wink">

  • Honestly, if what you're going for is something more like SimCity, then it's completely possible. I love those kinds of games, so even if your game is a bit noobish I would love to play it! And you don't need AJAX and PHP for something as simple as SimCity. I'd only recommend, though, that if this is something you want to make, don't focus primarily on multiplayer starting out. After learning more about development, and learning some AJAX and PHP knowledge, try it then. But that's a lot of stuff to have to deal with right from the beginning. Start small, and work your way up.

  • Short answer: you can.

    Long answer: yes, you can,

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Yes you can make a game like that not exactly but very similar just using local storage. It would take a while to do all the menu's and stuff its tedious but doable.

  • Hi, I'm also thinking about doing a management/tycoon/simulation type of game. The game would have many of the looks and feels and features of Patrician 3, Capitalism 2 and Sim City 4. I have designed on paper most of the game mechanics but now realize, from some of the many astute and wise comments on this board, that since I'm new to game programming and Construct 2 it is probably better for me to first tackle some smaller projects, much smaller projects, before I start work on my masterpiece.

I don't want to build a platformer, I hate those games. I have very little interest in RPGs and adventure games. Those games a so different from what I ultimately want to achieve. Is there a way to create a super, super, super simplified version of a strategy/simulation game? Do you have any suggestions of such a potential project that would serve as a learning experience and stepping stone?
