Suggestions on how to make this?

This forum is currently in read-only mode.
  • Me and my friend have been messing with construct recently. So we decided to create a game of our own with it.

We have our own story, yada yada yada.

But I have a couple questions... We want it to look something like this

    <img src="http://i411.photobucket.com/albums/pp197/zwatkins15/concept.jpg?t=1268946738">

But we cant really figure out how we can go about creating:

A: The console in the game...

    B: The realtime Map

    Any tips on such things?

Oh and the map works such as you press up, and it goes up one cube, down you go down one cube, etc. We want it this way so that essentially everything can run off of the console, the map is essentially a gui for the console. (It runs off coordinates)

  • Wow lots of questions. Maybe too many?

Here is my suggestion. Start small. Make a simple easy game that you know exactly what to do. trust me you will still have questions and problems.

The reason I am suggesting that you start small is there are may hidden pit falls with construct, especially so with mid sized and larger projects.

You project seems REALLY cool but I would start smaller. Best of luck!!

    Nice GUI BTW

  • Lol i've already made a simple defense shooter so im decently knowledgeable when it comes to construct... Lol

I can post it if you want

If that was completely true you wouldn't have had to pose the questions you asked in this thread in the first place. So I think Guyon has a point.

If you can't come up with a concept on how to do this AT ALL, chances are you aren't yet experienced enough to take on this project. Don't count on somebody doing the events from scratch for you.

It's not my intention to sound mean or anything. It just appears to me that you still should take a deeper look into Construct first of all. And then grace us with specific questions on the concept you've come up with. It's just the whole "do my game for me" kind of vibe (to phrase it exaggeratedly) that doesn't sit very well with me.

  • *facepalm* So by your logic if I understand a few simple things I understand everything?

Why is there a help forum then...

    But, oh well *shrug*

Honestly if your gonna be a jerk about a simple request for some documentation then you might as well not post >_>

    Wow, attitude fail...

I won't use any further effort to respond to that, I'm sorry.

  • Well the topic was "SUGGESTIONS on how to make this?"

Not "HOW ARE I MAKERZ THIS"

Honestly you could have given me a vague hint and I would have been happy lmao.

    Hence my frustration.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • There is no need for frustration. Let's everyone calm down here.

Zac, PixelRebirth was just suggesting that you get a little more experience under your belt before tackling a big project. What he said is true, not jerky.

At any rate, what you're asking to do is rather complex. I would start by putting your mockup gui in to Construct and fleshing it out piece by piece. Add a thing to click on here, a text box to read there, etc. When you get to a specific problem that you can't solve, feel free to ask for help then.

  • k thanks
