  • Okay not exactly a gamerblock. So recently I decided to shift from website designing to game development. I am a computer science engineering student really take up much time to learn stuff like this. The only problem I have is for the life of me I can not find out how to create or get characters or level layouts or enemy animations or bullet animations for my game. I do not wish to pay anybody to do this, nor do I wish to bug someone into making these for me. I just want to know if there is an easy way to create characters and other "drawing" stuff for the game. I tried inkscape...I can draw guns and those sort of things with it now, but how the hell am I supposed to draw soldiers and different frames for them running, crouching, shooting etc??? Plus the game introduction screen, the loading screen, its all too much drawing for me. Please folks, help me out here, I am so irritated. I have this idea of a game but I just can not assemble proper graphics to execute this idea and it is killing me. How do I do this????? <img src="smileys/smiley7.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • have a look at websites like : http://opengameart.org/ ?

  • Yeah well I tried. My university has fortiguard-ed it for some strange reasons. I think I once looked into it but I am not sure I remember coming out of it with anything useful for the game I have in mind. Anyway, I will give it another check.

  • At a university - I guess they have an art department ? Surely* there is some help to be found there ?

Look in this forums resources - where some talented artist hang out.

Main thing is don't let the artwork stop the game being developed - sprites "holders" can always be updated/changed.

Also look here on the forum for "Spriter"/Brahmonkey if you want to animate.

    *Just waiting for the

    references....
