Casino? money? who knows? but the target is the same!
  • will i be able to use the standalone version of construct 2 i i buy it from steam???

  • No. Two different licensing systems.

Rather buy here. I purchased steam version and hated it. upgraded to business version here and can tell you - here scirra is so much better.

I was having software crashes ever couple hours on steam.

You can't open files from explorer window because file association and steam is broken.

THere is long list of issues with steam.

But, if they offering some major discount, then its your choice. If the price is only slightly cheaper, then rather buy here.

    My thoughts on it anyway.

Oh, 'all software' on steam is problematic, in some way or other - its the authentication system and steam basically said they don't care. And refuse to offer refunds. And refuse to fix it.

Yip, I had couple months of hell. But since getting my new version from scirra, not one problem - it is such a joy.

  • DUTOIT is right

It would save alot of hassle to just get construct 2 from this site. The Community is better the updates are faster and you dont need to be signed in to steam to use the product.

  • ok thanks, i try not to buy on steam but construct is 33% off on steam's holiday sale.

i don't know what to do. i was going to buy it today anyway but saw the discount this morning. 33% sounds good to me but would like the standalone version instead.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Steam has sales on C2 more than Scirra does. If you value a cheaper price. Then Steam is your best bet. If you value standalone. Then spend the extra money. However it is the season. They might have a sale in the next few days.

  • My personal recommendation is to spend the extra $ and save yourself the hassle of steam. It's worth it in the long run IMO.

  • So i bought C2 on steam, and im using it since a pretty long time.

Here are the Pros and Cons.

    Pros:

+Its cheaper (I got it 50% off in sumer sale)

    +Automatic update

    +Time tracker (Not such a big Pro ;) )

    Cons:

-File association in explorer broken (Not such a big deal)

-Once Scirra, well, didnt updated the database correctly, an .exe was missing.

-You have no Forum badge :(

    -No Lightning Draw Badge...

But all in all its not bad, the period with the crashes we all had, regardless of which version it was, since it was a common problem/bug.

If youre a common/hardcore Steam user like me, you should buyn0 it on steam.

  • I got the steam version too, and I can't really complain. if you enable the beta mode in the software properties, it will auto update even with the beta realeases, not just the stable ones. So you don't have to worry about checking for updates. Oh and it works with steam offline mode, you don't need an internet connection, I just used Construct on my laptop while on the train today. And it also make it easy to install on different computers, as long as steam is installed too

  • I got it on steam and am having no problems with it at all

  • A question - can I open 2 Construct at the same time?

I normally use it with tutorials to compare events.

    Steam Version: No you can't.

    Scirra Version: Yes you can.

  • I'm really close to buying a copy in the Scirra store, but I'm afraid of the possibility that I buy today and tomorrow they decide to have a super discount hahaha

I was considering buying a copy on Steam, but I really didn't see the benefit of having yet another software in the middle. It is a bit more expensive, but I fell I'll have more freedom with the software, which is worth it.
