Construct2 live class

  • I've enjoyed both classes so far, thanks very much Yann and Kyatric.

    I have one question, though.

Why don't you use the Twitch chat? I haven't participated in the chat because of the additional signup requirement. I have so many accounts as it is!

Based on the numbers I've seen in Twitch(45-60) vs IRC (~15), I'd say I'm not alone on this sentiment.

  • Jodee: I don't get where you're getting those numbers from, from what I've seen during the live it was about an equal number on both chats, but the IRC one was indeed the most active.

Also twitch chat is the one requiring a registration to participate to, IRC chat can be joined without any kind of registration. (we even provide a webclient link that allows you to join IRC without needing to download an IRC client).

The IRC chat allows us a better moderation in need (we haven't needed it so far, but in case, we would be quicker to react).

I must also admit it's a matter of habit, Yann and I are "seasonned" IRC users and it felt more natural to us.

There is one registration needed on the uReddit class page, it's a global way for us to see who is interested in the course. I agree it makes one more account which isn't very useful for students, but it's a nice way for us to get an estimate on the following of the class (and possibly could make it worth making other courses of the like in the future).

  • Just enrolled! Thanks for this, I REALLY needed someone to guide me, this is just perfect! <img src="smileys/smiley32.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • Kyatric - I'm getting those numbers from the "viewers" count under the Twitch video feed. Assuming their numbers are accurate, the first week there were 60+ viewers and last week about 40 at the max.

IRC was more active because we were told in the first week not to bother posting questions in Twitch and to go to IRC instead.

Perhaps you could ask for a roll call in Twitch chat to double verify how many viewers are actually there.

With over 400 signups for the class, 40-60 attendees seems more accurate than the 15 or so in IRC.

  • Jodee: I've been checking the number of attendees both on IRC and Twitch chat during the lives themselves I can assure you it's about equal on both. (and some people are both on twitch's chat AND IRC at the same time)

Also, for the number of views, I believe it counts even viewers who don't have a twitch account (so viewers who can't access that twitch chat anyway since they don't have a twitch account).

As for IRC, the number is closer to 30 for each session than 15.

  • Awesome!

  • joined!! <img src="smileys/smiley32.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • hey Kyatric or Yann is there a way to download movies somehow?

Unfortunately for some time now I have strange issues with youtube on my pc (it throws me an error in chrome an ie every time I want to open any video or even download it, and can't find solution to fix this) and watching twitch consumes my bandwidth a lot. I have only mobile internet with harsh limits during the day but it's free and with no limits at night.

I'am asking cause session I've watched live last week took almost half of my monthly limit - that was a nice surprise :D

  • shinkan

Hey sorry to hear that, I can download them from twitch, and they don't seem too heavy so maybe I can throw them on a ftp somewhere...

I'll let you know if I find some solution (:

I had something like this a time ago, update your flash/java/drivers =]

    EDITED:

Also, placing the movies on the youtube is helping a lot, because I'm not so fluent in english to hear and understand, so, there I have the subtitles to help a little bit ^^
