  • At the top of the screen you will now see an alert box. It will let you know if:

    • Someone leaves a comment on your tutorial
    • Someone makes a reply on one of your forum threads

It will soon also alert you if someone references you in a comment (for example "@Tom, did you know...".

The comments are hard to keep track of on the site so this should help!

  • It will now alert you if someone makes a comment like:

    "@Tom did you know that..."

It either needs an EXACT match with the , or if no exact match is found it finds an exact starting match on what was entered, for example if there was a user:

    SpaceMan2000

    And you entered:

    space

It would match SpaceMan2000. This feature isn't on the forum yet, just sitewide comments but it will be on the forum eventually. Also it should be noted, you can't notify someone who hasn't posted in the comment thread! If I haven't left a comment in that particular string of comments, Tom won't notify me.

  • Any reason why scirra.com/alerts gives me the error:

    "The page isn't redirecting properly

Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete."?

    I'm running Firefox 7

  • Thanks for the report Jayjay, it will only do that if you are not logged in, I've done some tests and if you are logged in it's fine. I'll fix this anyway

The odd part is that I am logged in, and it's still doing that <img src="smileys/smiley5.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

Edit: Oops, I was trying to open it in a new tab, thinking it was a page. Just clicking it makes it work properly.

  • Also when clicking "View all alerts" in the popup window on a regular click tries to open the url "http://www.scirra.com/alerts/page-1" which cause the firefox error reported by Jayjay.

  • Fixed in next build thanks guys

  • Build?

  • Yeah, most of the website is written in ASP.net and it has to be built and published onto the server which knocks it offline for a few minutes so I don't do it too frequently :)

  • I don't get alerts when someone quotes me in a thread I posted in unless i'm op?!

  • Updated it now. Quotes at the moment will not alert you, it's the last feature I'm working on. However, you will now be alerted in the forum if:

    • Someone write a reply in a thread you started
    • Someone refers to you in a thread with

Urled if you have posted in that thread
