BBcodes and Prompt Mode

Currently whenever you hit a BBcode button or a smiley it adds it to the end of your message, even if the cursor is in the middle of your text. Is there any way to change the functionality so that it adds it in-line where the cursor is, the way the old forum did?

Also, auto-wrapping tags around a selection would be nice, for instance if I paste an image url, then highlight the url and hit the Insert Image button it would put the

[ /IMG]tags around the url, similarly to how phpBB did it. Or highlighting a sentence and hitting Bold. That sort of thing. That isn't as important as the in-line insert though. But it would be really handy! <img src="smileys/smiley4.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

One other thing, I find Prompt Mode to be really annoying! And the site doesn't remember my settings when I change it to Basic mode. If that setting could be saved or cookied or something that would be super awesome. And if not then I propose a change to make Basic Mode the default setting <img src="smileys/smiley2.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

Hit the Post Reply button instead of using the quick reply. That's where it is. There are more options in the full editor, and prompt mode basically is a step-by-step wizard for formatting BBcode. It's largely unecessary imo.

We have to face the fact that this forum software is really terrible. Vbulletin or phpbb are the only real solutions...

I tried to get the new version online last night, but it was more involved (doh should be learning this by now) than I thought, expect it to go online on Friday.

I'm confident it will solve a lot of the issues people are having!

If the update doesn't fix it, can we kill it with fire?

Ah, I see. Thank you. And yes, it could be an option instead of being the default.
