The Official Introduce Yourself Thread

  • Hi there,

My Name is Detlef, and I am from Germany. My first Computer was an Sinclair ZX81 followd by an Texas Instruments IT99/4A who was replaced by the legendary C64. Here my passion for computer games did start. I had the Chance to work as Gametester and digital Grafik Designer 1988 for the C64 Disc Magazine "Digital News". After moving to the Amiga 500 and Amiga 2000 I could make a dream come true an work on several "low Budget" Games on the Amiga as Game- and Grafikdesigner.

In the early 90s I started working as Graphic Designer for smaler Advertising Agencys and get in contact with Macromind Director. I startet to develope Multimedia CD-ROMs for any kind of Promotion - later I moved to Macromedia Flash as an Developer and helped to translate Flash 2 into German speach. I could create some very small games with DirectorMX and Flash.

I love Computergames. I Own several Consoles (all Playstations and Xboxes) and a lot of PC games. Since the early days on C64/Amiga I dream of developing games myself. I programm in C# and VisualBasic some other languages but I couldnt get a game to work. Since a long time I try every Gameeditor but C2 is the first one that fits perfectly to my demands. I already did some tutorials and currently I work on a prototype for a game Id like to develope since 20 Years. Currently Im on the FreeEdition but this week I will buy the PersonalEditon and start my Project.

    Have Fun!

    Detlef

  • Hi, my name is Roman. I'm just a hobbiest who enjoys programming. I started programming back in the 90's. I started with Basic, move to Visual Basic and then C. I discovered back them DIV Games Studio which opened the video game programming world for me. Now I'm trying to learn Java, and looking around the web I found Construct 2, which brought me back to video game programming. I hope I can learn and have a great time around here. Thanks.

  • Hi forum, I'm Kevin, a student waiting to transfer to Elmhurst College and one who wants to work with HTML5 to make games for genuine enjoyment, and one day a fully-fledged MMO.

I've been creating ideas of my own for a long time now, and I constantly have design ideas for new games, and new takes on games, often intertwined with storylines.

I can't wait until I can get the personal license and knock out some basic games and work my way towards professional design and coding!

  • Hi, I'm Corey. I used to be a web developer/graphic desinger a couple of years ago and I have always messed around with game development and I thought I would look into HTML5 for a full scope game. I have been using javascript on and off for the past 8 years and in my long search to find a nice engine/framework I came across Construct 2 and loved how quickly you could get ideas down and playable, and also how extensible it can be.

I tested the free version for about half a year and then finally bought a license when I started to run into limitations. I have been developing a cross-platform game for the past couple months and I have loved every moment of it.

The documentation is wonderful and the Javascript sdk has allowed me to implement multiple custom plugins, some of which I will release once I have completed my current project. It's crazy how easy it is to throw a prototype together and it really speeds up development. I'll probably never go back to developing purely in Javascript.

Keep it up Scirra! Looking forward to updates and new features.

  • Hi everybody! My name is Nurzhan, I'm from Kazakhstan. My age is 14, I am a school student. We don't speak English here, but I try to study it really hard. I love studying gamedesigning and stuff, so I found Construct. I am happy, as it is a very, very good beginning for me. I am working for my project now, it is based on my YouTube channel character, who loves chocolate very much. I want to make it spectacular, because I love my viewers and want to make them happy!

At first I was having some troubles with purchasing Construct, but Tom helped me out. Thanks a lot <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

    So, thanks for your attention, bye <img src="smileys/smiley2.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • Hi there, this is to introduce myself.

I'm a rusty developer from Guayaquil, Ecuador and I'd like to start coding/designing games (26 years old).

I've been working in management, but I want to start coding again.

I'm doing some basic stuff in cinder/webGL/processing and would like to learn game development.

I think construct is a great route for starters, and I was wondering if there were any demos or resources to boost my learning curve.

    Thanks!

    David

  • Hello Everyone!

I'm an aspiring game designer and more of a digital artist, love Photoshop and have always wanted to apply my visual work to games however can not programme to save my life.

I've been working as a freelance artist for a small indie games company and have learnt a lot from the experience, however given recent difficult circumstances I am now looking to go solo and see if I can maintain doing what I love.

A huge thank you to Scirra and the beautiful Construct 2 for making this possible and I can't wait to release some games for everyone to play.

    Many thanks and much love,
