• There is a new competitor to Dropbox that so far seems to work the same way. Except the start at 15 gigs of space, and if you use my link, we both get 5 more gigs.

This sounds great to me, my 4.5 gigs on Dropbox is always full because I have all my Construct2 projects in there.

No, it's not totally spam, we all use Dropbox around here, this applies.

Edit: Update: As of Oct 2016, Copy went out of business and Cubby is too. I believe I was up to 125 gigs of free space before it shut down. Sigh.

  • Just signed up! Thanks!

  • Well... You just have recived extra 5gigs ;) Thanks

  • Done! :D Thanks!

  • I have signed up...but cannot share the link to file from my computer via right-click like in dropbox. I have to share it from website:(

[EDIT] If you have a mobile device and a dropbox account, download their app and get extra 48 GB (or maybe is just for Samsung devices). worth a try

I subscribed too, but link sharing works fine for me, even better than in dropbox. For example, you can see history of files just by right click. It's under "copy actions" in the contextual menu for me.

  • Cipriux it's for samsung. Happend to me when I got myself sIII galaxy. After installing dropbox app I've recived an email saying "thank you...blah blah... samsung... blah blah you get +48gb for dropbox for two years"

In this copy I just miss one thing that dropbox have, not sure how to call this. In dropbox if you share a link, you can click it and file will download. In copy if you click on shared link new page will open and you have to press download again to download file.

... And you can't drag&drop folders from desktop to Copy. You have to create all foders manually first and then upload files to each folder.

  • Actually, I plan to keep both. I'll keep all my projects in Copy so I share them computer to computer, and since I already have a bunch of forum links to dropbox, I'll keep those live, and probably still use that folder for sharing that stuff.

You also get 2 gigs for sharing on Twitter, but referrals doesn't seem to have a max limit like dropbox does. (I'm sure that's temporary, like the 5 gigs is.)

Everyone should post a referral link, and future sign ups can choose one. (I'm feeling guilty now getting them all.)

Does make a scary looking link. (like a shortened URL)

  • Damn, I actually contributed to the community and asked for people to use my link as a thank you and only got two people to sign up =

I also have it in my sig... I didn't think of just 'asking' in the gerneal chat =| lol

  • I did try to search to see if anyone else had posted about it, but searching for "Copy" returned nearly every post ever made.

  • Moved to Tools/resources since this isn't directly C2 related.

  • Thanks for the info!

There's only one thing that makes me nervous. From the TOS:

"Copy reserves the right to change the amount of free storage or terminate Free Accounts at any time."

"Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, if a Free Account is inactive for a significant period of time, then Copy may delete any or all of Your Files."

I'm not sure if I want to put sensible data on a storage that might delete my files and cancel my account. Dropbox also keeps the right to terminate an account temporary or permanently in case of abuse, but never deletes any data. Instead you're informed how you may retrieve your files.

  • The way I use the cloud storage services the account vanishing shouldn't hurt, because it stores copies on each of my machines. I use in more like a synced folder, than cloud storage.

(other than when I'm at some other computer accessing the account online.)

Now if they would delete my files and it ordered the app to empty the local folders... yikes.

Inactivity isn't likely either, I turn on one of my machines that's been off for a day, and it has to sync 200 files.

What we need is Dropbox to get nervous, and up their space.

    Cheers mate =]

Paradox - That's fine, I kind of just put it at the bottom of my first big post and asked people to sign up as a thank you. I didn't really know where else to post about it directly and as this was moved I guess 'Construct2 General' wasn't the right place lol anyhow, it appears you have quite a nice amount of space now =] congrats :P
