• Got it, thanks! ^^

  • Thanks for the tip.

  • Downloaded all off them.Daz is fantastic for rendering 3d characters with ease.I see there's cartoon shaders as well with this edition ,Nice

  • Thanks getting them now...

  • Can anyone who has used the software before tell me: if all I want is to be able to change a base meshes appearance significantly enough to create an original looking character, dress that character and then animate them, what of the free software I should download.

I'm don't want to downloading large software packages that I'm not gonna use especially since I will get in trouble if I use up too much of my dowload limit but I don't want to skip on any of the important ones while they are cheap.

Are the Content creator toolkit & DAZ Studio 4 Pro all that I would need?

also... Anybody found out what the catch is?

  • I have used daz3d before and it's quite a powerfull app.If you want to change the basic meshes etc then i would suggest you download daz3d 4.0.The genesis model that comes with the package can be changed from a basic human to a werewolf ,almost anything you can think of can be made with this base mesh.

The animations are very easy to use in daz3d.You can load mocap files for the animation parts and they are in bvh form.

The catch is that you only get one basic model with the package with a few clothing items etc.The rest of the stuff like morph targets etc you would have to buy separately.

  • Here's an example of what the genesis model can do.It took me a few second's to download the werewolf morph at renderosity After the morph is installed then you just change the slider and the mesh does the rest.

  • Well I downloaded it and even decided to buy a few morph packs as well since the genesis model doesn't really start with too many options for changing it's appearance.

If anybody else intends to buy something from the DAZ store make sure you look out for bundles within bundles I purchased 2 morph bundles for what I thought was a good price only to find them being sold together with several other bundles for a even cheaper price then what I paid for them individually!

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • Good stuff, thanks!

Daz is really good about returns as long as it is within 30 days of purchase. Just contact support with what happened and how you'd like it fixed, and they'll usually accomodate you. (It is easiest if you take a credit rather than a refund, but they'll do it either way.) So in your case, just say you'd like to return the bundles (for credit or refund) and then buy the cheaper bundle that has both.

Edit: If you are going to buy a lot of stuff, consider joining the Platinum Club, which gets you an extra 30% discount off of most things, and a $6 voucher good for Daz Originals each month.

  • Just downloaded the tools... great find, thanks for sharing, it is greatly appreciated!

  • Fantastic share thanks for the heads-up. Kudos to you.

  • Don't forget everybody that BLENDER is ALWAYS FREE and you can find lots of meshes and tutorials online, it's very powerful software as well. Here is a link if anyone would like to purchase a tutorial on how to mesh in blender, this is pretty incredible software for being free, anyway just wanted to pass on the info! Because not everyone can afford the expensive models that DAZ sells in this hard hit economy, which is really how DAZ makes there money. Anyway so hopefully those of you out there will also be better off if you learn Blender because it also does MUCH MUCH more then DAZ and could open many more doors for you as well if you have this knowledge! Have Fun, Later All....

  • I have been using blender since it first came out.It is an powerful app to work with ,but the interface is quite a mess compared to daz3d.Doing animations with daz3d is also much easier to do than blender. Most of posers models also work with daz which means there are lots of free models out there to download which could be used in daz3d.

Daz is mostly used for quick renders and ideas where blender can be used for more professional and polished stuff. Also the renders are a bit bland with daz3d Which means more postwork has to be done , blender is way better with it's rendering techniques. And blender has that fantastic cartoon shaders already built in for free.Daz3d also sports cartoon rendering but it's definitely not as good as blender.
