Microscope Blood Simulator 2.1

This forum is currently in read-only mode.
  • A simple simulator of the human blood. The eight most common cell elements are in the actual proportion, approximately. They are shown as they would through an optic microscope, in eosin and methylene blue staining. And you can also see their names and play around with your mouse.

My intention is to turn this into a game.

  • I knock everything out of the way with my mean Eosinophile, haha!

This seems interesting enough. I'm curious what the gameplay mechanics would look like.

Btw I believe those cells could use a slight warp effect.

  • Lol. I also wonder how it could be. I was thinking about something related to the trip of a parasite through the body, but with a realistic look.

Thanks for the advice, I'll try the warp effect. (as soon as I find out what the hell it is, i'm such a rookie)

EDIT> Oh, man, that effect definitely gives something to the movement of the biggest cells. Kind of amoeboid movement. However, my pc doesn't support much warping, I think I will add quality options.

How about a game where you start off by choosing which virus you want to play as, and then fight through the bodies' immune system to infect the human?

    CONGRATULATIONS...

    You have have given your host body;

    AIDS!

    Errr... or maybe not.

  • that actually sounds good

Got my vote. In this day and age of not even being able to sing Bah Bah Blacksheep to your newborn without being called a racist. I think a politically incorrect game like that would be perfect! No problem finding idea's for sequels either, Swine Flu, flesh eating bacteria etc.

    I'd play it.

    @ the OP, looks great!

  • Thank you for your ideas and interest. However viruses are too tiny for a game that pretends to be realistic, bacterias would be hard to see too. Protozoan and metazoan parasites are bigger and more diverse, they have more definite path through the body before they start multiplicating, they also have different development phases.

That's a game character just begging to be made!

Guess you could always try to replicate an electron microscope.

Btw some bg's I made in gimp

That's a fearsome one, Ancylostoma duodenale. We learnt about it yesterday at the University, and it would make an excellent candidate for a game because of its itinerary: it crosses your skin, reaches blood, right heart, pulmonary circulation, pulmonary alveolus, bronchia, trachea, larynx, esophagus, stomach and intestine, where it bites the wall and stays hanging and feeding from the blood.

You're right, elecron microscope would be the only way for realistic viruses and bacteria. Their cycle is often focused on a fast reproduction, which fits better in a strategy game. Parasites, on the other hand, have important lonely phases, what is good for an arcade, don't you think?

And wow!, amazing backgrouds! Those would be perfect for some stages, seem very realistic. That plastic effect gives it the appearance of a mucus layer, perfect for respiratory or even digestive tract.

Unfortunately, I have to delay the project for a while due to lack of time, but new ideas are welcome.
