• How export in exe is realised?

I don't actually generate a new 'exe' file, i copy the exe file from

the main folder, rename it and place it in the exported game folder

    using a folder object.

  • This is looking very polished!

  • This is a test game made with the Match3 maker( only 3 levels )

The game should loop back to level 1, when level 3 is cleared, and the 'switch back' should work (thanks Pixelrebirth)

The first level is a normal timed round.

The second level involves getting 8 'bombs' to the bottom of the screen(timed)

The third level is a 'breakout' game.(timed)

There is actually a few more levels (ROJOhounds) card match, and a memory game but i disabled the groups because they

    need a bit of work.

Hopefully this 3 level test should run ok, but there's bound to be something that ive missed.

    Link at the bottom

    Notes:

The 'Help button' isnt working, the 'pause' button doesnt stop the music.

Ive not included the actual game maker with this download, because its not finished yet and its about 8 meg ! !.

The next version of the game maker will allow you to import your own Game Logo and change the game 'playing loop' as well as the stuff previously mentioned.

If you download it, please let me know whats not working, or what you think is good or bad about it.

    Thanks

    EDIT!!!!

WHOOPS, Ive just spotted a couple of errors.

The timer for level one is set to 2000 instead of 3000.

The last level stops with 1 brick remaining, and it doesn't trigger level 1.

If you haven't already downloaded the example..wait and i will fix it....sorry.

    EDIT!!!!

Changed the errors, it should work ok now.

    EDIT....24/07/11

There was a few more errors in the above link, the link below is

a NEW example with 4 working levels!(I tested it 30 times)

    4 working levels

Sorry for wasting your valuable bandwidth!

  • If you downloaded the 3 level test, you may have spotted a problem with it...it didnt work!

I have removed it and replaced it with a 4 level working example...I spent all morning testing it, so it will (should) work.

    See above for new link.

  • You couldn't make an example, very much I want to see as it works! I use PROMT

  • makco134

The puzzle aspect of this is based on PixelRebirth's example HERE.

  • Nearly finished the Match3 maker.....Thank God!

    Should be completed by tomorrow?

In the meantime, here's a sample game...'Marble Match'

See how many Marbles you can match in 2 minutes.

  • Cool, how long it takes to build a game like that with the builder? How lonk it took you, everything - graphics, sounds, music?

When I clicked try again, the game started, but the music stopped playing and the time meter below also stopped animating.

    (Re problem)

If you click the play button a second time, the music and time meter again should start (I got the same problem,

It?s down to a 'wait' event that I need to change!)

    (Re Creation time)

Once I get everything working, you will be able to build a unique game in about 10 minutes (using the graphics and Sounds libraries that are provided)

    The current options include:

1, Game logo image (use one of the provided textures, or import your own)

2, Background image (use one of the provided textures, or import your own)

3, Set color filter for boxes and panels (common dialogue)

4, Set color filter for timer bar (common dialogue)

5, Game blocks (use one of the provided textures, or import your own)

6, Sound's for clicking and block swapping (pick one from the libraries)

7, Sound for game loop (pick one from the libraries)

If you want to use your own 'Game logo image' obviously you will have to design and create it before you import it (I use Microsoft excel to create mine). Any textures you import are automatically resized, and copied to the relevant folders.

The only thing I am still trying to sort out is the ?levels??

I am trying come up with 'random level' generator (time, points needed, bonus blocks...Etc) otherwise the created games will just be boring (the alternative, is creating 40 Plus, seperate level /groups)

  • I am trying come up with 'random level' generator...

It shouldn't be hard, but maybe it just doesn't look difficult . Anyway, everthing sounds good, gl with creating.

This is the first release, so bear with me !

This version will allow you to create a simple test game (3 minutes...highest score, game)

I haven't included anymore levels because i want to make sure the thing actually works.

    Match3.r.1

    EDIT....The pause button works !!

  • Didn't find any serious issues testing this. Exported games seem to work fine and you can also adjust most of the important aspects already.

How about you make the block selector graphic changeable too? And the score font of course (which I guess I mentioned earlier), although that might be a little tedious to do. At least when you still want to stuff it all in the same little window.

One issue I found though is that the background graphic can't really be changed. It always stays the same no matter what you select, in the edtior and in the exported game as well.

EDIT: Ah, my bad. You have to click the thumbnail to actually change the graphic. I miss things like that easily.

  • Hi there,

I'm new to the forum but just want to say the M3 Maker seems to work perfectly on this end. Just curious if you have gone further with it to produce a version that allows the user to create a fully opererational match3 game with levels and some editable params. I would gladly pay for such a thing. Please let me know!

    Again, great work! :-)

  • I put the project on hold because I had to do a bit of catch-up with Construct 2!

I will update this post when its back on track.

  • How to make self new levels? If it is impossible then very bad.
