Non-istall version of construct

This forum is currently in read-only mode.
  • Hello,

I'm new here but I read alot in this forum the last weeks and I want to use construct but I have no PC right now. I have to use my universities PCs. But I can't install anything on those PCs. So I tried to install construct on a frieds pc to an USB-drive. But when I try to run Construct it says "Unably to find the user configuration. Please reinstall Construct." or something similar.

So I'm wondering if it's possible to download a non-install version thats working from an USB-drive.

    Hopefully you can help me.

  • You mean portable version. I don't think that is likely, as Construct (the current incarnation, at least) requires certain DX9 and VC++ redistributables.

So what? That's not the problem - you can install it on your own - they are not part of construct. The problem with construct is that I can create portable version, but i need to install it first, then grab Construct files, then uninstall. Also maybe problems with registry keys, but I don't think that Construct rely on it heavily, just for uninstaller and version description.

  • You can run construct off of a USB on a computer with windows xp. I know that because that is what I'm doing right now(it still works when I take it in and out of the slot). However, I'm not sure that it would work for multiple computers. Have you tried installing it onto the USB on one of the university computers? I know that with some computers, they'll allow you to install to a drive even though they won't allow you to install to the main drive.
