How do I repeat an attack animation?

  • I have an attack animation that I would like my enemy to repeat as long as it is in attack range. I have the enemy attacking but after one attack it stops. And I also have the system setting my attack and pursue boolean to false, but when the enemy attacks it stop setting the booleans to false.

The other mechanics of the game aren't important for this question, so I want go through all the controls but the directional buttons move the characters. I'm guessing the problems lies in the AI group of he event sheet but I could be completely wrong about that.

Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks in advice.

  • Why not using Sine behavior to move the enemy right and left.

And i see only 3 frames for the enemy, where is the attack animation that you want to play.

Can you upload image for your problem.

  • Sorry about that, seems I uploaded the wrong file. Try the one in the link, it it will have the animations.

Do you think the sine behavior will simplify what I have now? Seems like the sine behavior would conflict with the jump-thru event I have for the enemies.

    Thanks for your help.

I don't know why the link is not working so I guess we are at a stand still. I'm sure you won't be able to help much with out actually seeing the game.

  • I get this too

Sorry, the file you have requested does not exist.

Make sure that you have the correct URL and that the owner of the file hasn't deleted it.

  • The .capx you want to use can't be uploaded? Too large?

  • Yea it is too large. I loaded it to drive and dropbox but when I paste the link and submit my post the link it changes. I'm completely lost on how to post the link. Is there something that I am missing?

  • At low levels of reputation on these forums, you are not allowed to post links in any form.

At slightly higher levels, your links are converted to plaintext, instead of being links. It's an anti-spam measure.

  • Yea I read that, but at 250rep I should be able to paste a plain text link. Every time i try it shortens the url. I'll place the link to the file from my google drive below so you can see what happens.

  • I see that, yes. Why not post your link without the http:// part? that will keep it from being abbreviated.

  • Ok I'll give that a try.

    Seems to work

  • Currently you don't have access set open for the average user.

  • OMG lol, I've never done that before but I'll look into it now.

Thanks for your help so far.

Ok, So I changed the file and made it so anyone can view the file...hopefully that means download it too.

  • Ok, I've tried to change around the enemy movement and attacking events but I'm getting the same results. when the enemy is in a certain range of the player the enemy stops and attacks once. I would like the enemy to keep attacking as long as the player is within that range.

Can someone please help with this?

  • Ok, So I have went a different route and downloaded a plugin and it helped with different aspects of my game but not the initial problem I had with the attack. I tried making the enemy attack initiate every 2 seconds but it plays the animation too fast. I am officially lost at this point and I don't know what else I can possibly do. Attached is a link to the capx.

Can someone please help with this I don't know what to do.
