  • As the title says,

What could be the correct size for a background that i can use on a Endless run game, to match the mostly sizes of smartphones screens..

    Anyone knows?

    Thanks

Edit: i have a character sprite of 75px.

  • TiledBackground prefer images sized 64x64, 128x128, 256x256, 512x512 and so on... Personally I would make a scenery 1024x1024 and set layer parallax to X 5px and Y also 5px. It gives nice and smooth transition of background.

Of course if you intend to make bigger layout (between 2000px and 8000px) I suggest to split background (the quickest way is to use imagesplitter.net)

    512x512 would fit nice for a 75px sprite?(the runner)

  • It's not about background size. It's about how you design your game to fit mobiles screens.

If your game is 640x320, and it's scaling to fit mobile entire screen, then there's no point of using full HD image for the background.

Or maybe you are asking for the background size as a layout size, of the game? You need to clearly describe what you want to get best answers.

So, the game will work only in landscape mode.

i need hmm a size that can fit on smartphones(i will use scaling to work well on iphone4s and a galaxy S5 for exemple)

  • Try Construct 3

With that question you must experiment on your own, but you are on good way, but runner sprite i would make

64px width and 96px height with background size 768px height. It looks great on my 15inch screen with resolution 1366x768.

  • Or you can stick to 1280x720, and scaling will do the rest. But it's really all up to you. If you want to fill entire game screen then you need to use scaling.

Check the Autorunner template from C2/templates folder to get some ideas.

  • What about a windows size of 960x640 and a background size of 1200x800 ?

and then use scaling to fit on most phones.

Because the ipad ~on landscape mode~ will be 1024x768.

    iphone5 will be 1136x640.

  • Panoramic images will be fine. but resolution is one thing, another matter is format, I bet, everyone who is using construct2 uses as background PNG format and it's best option, but use Interlaced PNG file.

    Here is a nice lecture about png <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" />

  • Thank you all for the tips!

  • Guys,

For a pixel art background, what size could be good to drawn a bg? since after i will put up 200% or maybe 300% of the original size.

needs to be a size that i can scale to most phones..
