What would you like to see in the debugger

  • I have an idea that might be easy to add,

Next to each object put the current picked count in the parentheses too. (4 of 6)

  • Hi. Construct 2 continuously amazes me. Please keep up the excellent work!

Constant Local Variables and Local Variables without "Static" and "Constant" checked are missing.

Will editing array data be possible in a future Beta? (You could try to enable it by pausing, editing and then resuming if it proves troublesome in realtime).

I also noticed a simple bug: Whenever you load a layout that doesn't have an event sheet associated, the debugger crashes and shows the following message:

"Javascript error! Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'name' of null localhost/system.js, line 225 (col undefined)" <= Chrome 28.0.1500.95 m

"Javascript error! Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'name' of null localhost/system.js, line 219 (col 2)" <= IE 10.0.9200.16635

    Thank you very much!

  • I also agree about arrays as tables. I also hope there is a way, in the future, to make it not decrease performance so heavily.

  • Fine tuning particle effects in debugger

It would be nice if we could save / export fine tuned particle effect parameters from the debugger.

Copy paste into a text editor works currently.

  • Thndr - try stepping with a timescale greater than 1, e.g. 2 to simulate a step of 0.032 (corresponding to 30 FPS).Oh hey it interacts with the timescale number, did not notice that and thought it only did 60fps at timescale 1 all around.

  • When you get a chance, could you make it an option to toggle the debug window to the SIDE of the browser in addition to its initial nestled point lengthwise at the bottom? :) Thanks. And AMAZING update with r141!!! WOW!

  • Ok, got one... [edit: This one got added!]

I just found the debugger is a great way to work with particles. Adjusting while watching is fun.

I had been writing a tutorial on particles, and the debugger will now be included.

But it needs to highlight the fields you adjusted, so you can make the changes in the editor easier. Can they turn red?

  • Amazing update :)

  • Also , With the Debugger , the arrays display as

    .-> Y

    |

    \/

    X

And it really confuses me , I think it should display like a normal C2 array would

    .-> X

    |

    \/

    Y

This small detail made me rewrite my script numerous times

  • Actually I've always thought of it as X is the list and Y is the content of the list, X down, Y across...

    anyone else?

  • When you get a chance, could you make it an option to toggle the debug window to the SIDE of the browser in addition to its initial nestled point lengthwise at the bottom?

Would like to second this. Since a lot of the information is listed vertically, having the debugger on the side of the screen makes more sense. Of course, it could be optional, or even modular.

  • It does have the button to pop it out to it's own window. (the little arrow in the upper right) however you do have to click it each time.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • You don't have to click the pop-out every time. If you press Debug again from within C2, it should refresh the game and the pop-out window should keep working still. Works great on multi-monitor setups.

  • It'd be sweet to be able to make your own little debug 'page.'

What I mean by this is instead of having to click through all the different areas to see particular things, I can select what my page has in it eg:

    -Global variables

    -A particular instance's variables

-Something else which I can't think of

  • Sulli ,

That would be good to have , but for secondary

    Maybe in the near future

    Ashley

Are you considering a way to toggle the console inbrowser ?
