A cool way for kids to write and practice English Alphabets
• Ok so these are 2 very important things that i think need to be added to c2 :

1.) A button or shortcut that opens the animation editor ...Why ?Because when the screen is full of objects off all sorts and you want to make a change in the image of a sprite and there is something else overlapping you have to move the object out of view and replace it again in the same coordinates ..very frustrating...

2.) C2 rly rly needs better control over the z order of objects , right now i have nearly 100 objects on screen and with psevdo shader effects its very difficult to control what comes on top of what , everytime i make a change i need to rearrange everyting ...

i hope Ashley will read this , thx

• 1) You can right-click an object in the objects list and select "edit animations" instead of sifting through objects in the layout editor.

2) Maybe using more layers would help?

• 1.)won't do the trick , it still selects the object on top when i right click

2.)no money so 3 layers, ashley can u do something for the poor ??

• 1. When you select object type (through the objects list for example) in the properties bar there is a "Animations - Edit" property (as a link).

In case of sprite, selecting the general object type should be enough since all instances share the same set of textures.

2. There is a custom plugin about zOrder, check the plugins and behaviors list.

• look man, I really don't mean to be rude or something, but seriously, you've got, for free, one of the best (if not THE BEST) user-friendly 2D engines on the market. Before start complaining and whining about what should or should not be implemented you really should buy a license. That would not only solve one of your problems, but also would give the developers of C2 the necessary support to keep on improving the engine.

And I'm pretty sure you can organize your sprites/objects in different folders, that should help you with your first problem. Organizing the viewport is also a great tip!

:)

• bnkdpst You shouldn't discourage input. Good suggestions can come from anyone. It would be very unfortunate and probably affect Scirra's bottom line if users of the free version felt they couldn't make suggestions on the forum without being told to go buy it.

I think what he is trying to say is, if the software was purchased, these problems would not be problems.

the marked one

Have you tried using object locks to stop some objects from being selected? Not sure if this is available in the free version, but pretty sure it is.

I know man :), and I'm sorry you interpreted that way. Just like I said, I meant not to offend or discourage, though I think users should look for a work around before asking to Ashley "hey, do what I say, I need this!"... I've been doing some free volunteer work with graphic design, and some people just don't understand that they need to cooperate too, it's not really like I can solve all their problems (and believe me, most of then can be solved by themselves). Feedback is always a positive thing, but we shouldn't put the blame on the developers because one can't find a way to do or organize his/her work. And I'm not talking directly to the author of the post, just as an example, earlier today someone was saying here in the forums, "hey, C2 sound system is crap", but he or she didn't even try to understand how it works.

And I didn't mean you can't send requests/opinions/feedback if you're using the free version, I'm currently using it myself, though I'm aware of it's minor limitations such as layers amount, so I won't complain about it. These guys work as hard as they can, the least I can do is support their work, and buying a licence is some sort of support too. You can't blame the government (or any other entity) for not finding a job if all you do is sit on a chair and scratch your balls all day long

thanks man, exactly what I meant :)

I don't speak english very well, so sometimes what I say may sound a little bit too harsh, even when I meant exactly the opposite

• Layers locks indeed could help.

Organizing objects on the 4 (free version limit is 4 layers btw) layers, locking/unlocking (as well as hiding in fact, a hidden layer doesn't allow selecting) can help in dealing with loads of instances.

The free version needs limits, else users wouldn't buy licenses otherwise.

Whatever the limits are, there always be people to ask for them to be pushed/removed.

And well, you can go through all the regular contests to try and win C2 licenses.

At the beginning of this month, the rotary contest ended, the hbgames one started.

• bnkdpst Sorry I took your response in the wrong spirit.

• 1) You can always edit animations from the Project or Object bars by right clicking, so that should solve that problem.

2) On the todo list!

• 1.)Well as Kyatric said i found the Edit animations button on the left of the screen so ill use this instead of double clicking since its working great that way

2.) you Sir are awesome !^^ !!
