  • I am thinking about buying a license, however I have a few questions.

Let's say I create a HTML5 game with construct 2. Is it easy to deploy to Facebook, Android and iOS without making lots of adjustments?

Another scenario: if I want the ability for people to purchase credits in game or something, is that even possible?

If I port the game to iOS, is it easy to get it into app store? I have read and heard that Apple are pretty picky about what goes in there.

I have tried reading the beginner stuff and tutorials but I found them somewhat confusing. So, that's why I ask the questions here and hope to get straight answers.

PS. I was impressed by the creations from some people here on the forums, and that's why I'm interested in getting started with Construct 2 myself. After going through the beginner tutorial I was impressed how easy it was to get a basic game up and running!

    Thank you for your time!

  • Well, you will always find here people ready to help you if you find just a little time to read answers and say "thanks" ;-p

You can make games running everywhere but it's still a hard work to think and create a game which is running well everywhere. A mobile as not the same perfs than a computer, not the same screen size, no keyboard ...

IOS is more specific problem ... you can create with C2 a game running in any browser so in safari and ios safari too and without any special cost but putting a game on app store require actually a apple dev licence which cost money. In fact creating a real ios game need in general using the native IOS engine giving more perfs than playing using safari ! ... and so in C2 a specific export toward another system giving more power and specific features for monetize your game.

The evaluate version of C2 is here for you to pratice more C2, create your first game (perhaps putting it on scirra arcade) and understand limits and difficulty before creating a great/big game using a licence version which help greatly doing that.

But i really think you must practice first before dreaming monetize your game ... and the best way is to create a first game only with the objective to create something playable.

I can provide partial answer: there is no native export, except html5 and html5 in wrappers. I saw alpha-test of .exe export here on the forum.

I don't think you can add in-app purchases (for iOS for example).

Try to reach limits of the free version of Construct - 100 of actions per project - there is no other limits. That way you will be sure if you need it or not.

Or better wait another answer, from Rojohound or Ashley or somebody else more reliable than me <img src="smileys/smiley17.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

    THIS

  • Actually, there are a few more differences between the free and paid versions, listed here.

  • i'm thinking to buy C2 ,and i started of thinking when i tried it for 2 weeks only but i still need to learn more before i buy it also i had some problem in payment in my country as ages and these stuffs... also construct2 is the best program you can find for html5 and there will be some ways to export to android ,iOS soon (they working on it).

about facebook i think there is some people already had games on facebook i never tried but i think facebook use html5 export.

even if you bough construct2 you will get the updates so you can use it in the future when you feel comfortable with it.

    good luck ^^

  • as from your post, you want monetize your games, i think this serious enough to make you get C2 license ;), also Apple is shallow when you don't use their products to develop for IOS, Android seem more open when accepting indie games.

  • Thanks for your answers.

A straight answer is needed for this though:

Is it possible to export to apk/play store using construct 2?

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Sort of. It can be done by exporting with PhoneGap or CocoonJS. These are still in beta, although support for them will likely improve quickly.

    Alright, thank you!

Going to start fiddling around with the free version some more now then..

but I really like what I have seen so far.
